Loved the sound. Still have a new G ThatI haven't used. They will not stay in tune for me in Hawaii and I had one break in my bass bag as I was starting a gig. Great sound, lots of problems. IMHO YMMV .

I liked the oliv D a lot on my bass. I don't know what your climate is like but here in Michigan the D and G tuning stability was awful! I've considered trying just the G, one string that doesn't want to stay in tune is something I can live with probably.
Update: My Oliv G is behaving quite well. I only need to tune it when I pickup the bass and maybe once or twice if it's a long session and only by a few cents. My Spiro D sounds great but now I can't help thinking about how an Oliv D would sound. In any case, I'm going to keep the bass with this setup until I see how the G behaves in the summer when I have a lot of outdoor gigs.
After almost 6 months in my bass the Oliv G keeps sounding great and upon close inspection, the windings over the bridge and nut look like new.
Tuning is very good, I'd dare to say excellent; stays in tune even in outdoor gigs. I'm very tempted to go for the Oliv D before and might do it as soon as I have a week with no gigs (thankfully not until the end of the summer).
Right -- years ago I asked Pirastro for a test Olive-D, and I sent it back (with a thank-you) without even trying it because it was so thick. On the other side, I've tried the Oliv D and didn't do it for me
Why? Go with the flow. Why is this thread back up?! I was just fantasizing about an Oliv G yesterday...must resist...must resist...
