Onboard preamp suggestions?

My Bartolini preamp is dead ( actually it never worked in my used bass). I can't spend too much (approx $150 ). Any favorites among you guys ? Or girls?
My bass has passive Bartolini pups - a MM type in the bridge and a J type in front.
I have always been a passive Fender player so the preamp game is brand new!

Audere are a pretty good value. They use an active blend control which helps with getting the right balance between different kinds of pickups. Still like mine after 10 years. Sound is true to the pickup but with a little more punch and clarity than running passive.

I don´t have a bass with an Audere preamp but I had one from a friend for two weeks. It was a harley benton jazz bass with the preamp (he later replaced the pups). All I can say it is a really good preamp. a great deal for the price. I just don´t have one now because my main bass is a Sire V7

Another vote for Audere, a very musical preamp for a great price. My other vote in the "good quality at a low price" is the EMG BTC (stacked knob) or BTS (dual knob). Both are pretty transparent and rather polite. This can be good if you really like the native tone of your pickups and want a preamp that won't change it.

I see Seymour Duncan has one now too. Quite cheap in price. And some new ones called Pike? So many to think about!

Another vote for Audere. I've used EMG, Aguilar, Bartolini, SD, MEC, Fender, MusicMan, and a few others over the years -- Audere is my favorite of all of them. They really let the natural sound of the instrument and pickups come through without as much "coloring" as some other preamps create. I find the tone adjustments to sound very musical, natural, and usable with Audere stuff.
