one more problem ...which Fender?

Guys I decided finally to buy an American Deluxe jazz bass 4 strings but I have a few questions if you can answer I will thank you very much:

Some people are saying the new American Deluxe jazz is better then old one. is it true? What means "the new model"? just the new '08 model or the previous years too?

I believe the most notable recent change was around '05 or '06, at least for the 5-stringers. Look for pickups labeled "SCN", and on the 5'ers look for a 4+1 arrangement of the tuners on the headstock (not 5-in-line). The current SCN pickups are supposedly much better sounding than the older "Noiseless" ones.

I don't think that model has changed for 2008. The most recent update was in 2004, when the Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups and 18v preamp were introduced. I think those were both worthwhile upgrades.

That's all I'd look for, apart from a lightweight sample if I could choose. Some of these are extremely light, which is a plus.
