Only $2,000 to improve your amp's performance

Fool, it is Gorgonzola. But the two are easily confused.:smug:

You misunderestimated the data. Clearly Stilton has an NEC Ampacity rating of 15 while Gorgonzola is only 13. Also due to the extra mold veins in a typical Stilton, the maximum frequency for 100% skin depth increases to a whopping 29kHz. Finally, Gorgonzola is notorious for phase distortion - this is why you don't drink Pinot Noir or Cabernet Suvignon with it. Only one word wines like Merlot otherwise you get phase cancelation.

I am a skeptic scientist, but I must say (to noone in particular, and probably, on occasion, to myself) that snide or condescending remarks will not help convince anyone of anything, ever. You can lead the horse to water, but holding his head under the surface won't quench his thirst. Hijack over.

Of course you're right. OTOH, one ventures to hope that a little joke, even a bad one, might help lower the emotional temperature a bit.

Thank you so much for all your hard work...seriously!

The recording process is in itself so variable, then we add the complexities of what speakers everyone's listening to, and sending a cheesy mp3 of ANYTHING through the internet would negate any differences - a Mexican pre with flatwounds sounds like a Fodera Anthony Jackson here.

I never mentioned anything about sending clips over the internet. And in order to compare the sound files bit-by-bit, they have to be in a completely uncompressed WAV format (libsndfile only works with WAV files). An uncompressed WAV file picks up everything the microphone detects without altering it at all. And of course the recording would be done with a suitable interface, not just the line-in on your computer. Speakers would not be a factor as the same speakers would be used in both the test cases.

I hate to cut people up on forums, but you, my friend, seem to have little to no understanding of how scientific experiments work.

If there is anyone in Houston area that would like to do a blind test let me know. I just recently did this with my employees and musicians. All noticed a pretty big difference.

I have opened my doors to all Houston TB scientists, I mean bass players, to do a blind test. Contact me if you are interested.

You recently did a blinded test? This is interesting. Please post how you did it.

That just reminded me of this . . .

Any chance of some comparative recordings?

Pre-recorded bass line being run back through an amp with and without the cable, and posting it up here?

Houston is a bit too far for me to go to try and hear a difference :p

we used 3 different setups.

1st setup:

-wall outlet
-Guitar amplifier
-cable tester that produces a test tone at +4 (this keeps everything consistant)
-ESP power cable
-Standard power cable

2nd Setup

-added an extension cord and power strip
-everything else the same

3rd Setup

-Switch out the test tone with a guitar

All these setups we used an RTA meter, SPL meter, and our ears. 1 person changed the cables, 2 people listened. RTA scopes the two cables to be different. SPL meter scopes the two cables to be the same.

Philistine. :rollno:
Never mix an Italian cheese with French wine. Which of course begs the question as to which fine English wine would best accompany Stilton. :hmm:
