Only $2,000 to improve your amp's performance

Well … I guess you're not doing it right by your own standards then. ;)

Just because Victor Wooten thinks the cable will make you breakdance better doesn't make the product itself any worse. I was looking for a good power cable (ie build quality not magic sound improvement). I got mine used on the classifieds from someone expecting sound improvement. By ignoring the advertising hype I got the actual product I was looking for.

If you're going to promote yourself as a "mediocre bassist" why do you think I should even consider your opinion? Who cares? There's enough apathy to go around...

Of course, because a "mediocre bassist" could never have "the golden ear" required to hear the difference between the sound of a high-end power cable over lamp cord.

this thread is ass.

here's the deal...it ain't up to the engineers on here to disprove that this cord makes stuff sound better. it's up to the ones who make and market this cord to prove that it sounds better. and they ain't makin' with the data. now if you want to think you did a great thing by buying one of these cords, great. but you'll have to excuse me if i don't nominate you for a nobel prize.

btw, when it comes to the ins and outs of audio, musicians, and yes, even famous musicians, really don't seem to know a whole lot about the science behind it in general. i certainly don't have the qualifications for it and i actually know a couple things ;)

As stupid as that sounds you'd be amazed how many seemingly rational people would buy into doing just that. Read this piffle:

As to the real reason for the need for 'cable break in': to convince the sucker to keep his cables beyond the return period.

:eyebrow:

That is the stupidest thing I've ever read, and I've read some pretty stupid stuff in my time (hollow earth theory, the Nibiru/2012/reptilian alien doomsday prediction, the MusicCord Pro advertisements...).

I was saying that it would be human error that pulled the plug from the outlet without reason. I went to sound engineering school and have the student loan debt to prove it. I'm saying that sound engineers that don't know what they're doing will start grabbing at whatever cable isn't bolted to the ground. And they won't think twice about it...

Exactly! This is why I cut a half-inch length of insulation off my power cables near the plug at both ends, leaving the bare wires exposed. Anyone who pulls out my cables for any reason will lose the habit very quickly, and I can worry about my playing instead of some cable-grabbing imbecile.

WRT to the Morrow Audio cables, think about it. I'll bet there are people out there who actually believe that stuff, AND have driver's licenses and/or guns.

"...Mid-way through the break-in process 50 to 100 hours:
Between 50 and 100 hours you will experience the "difficult stage" of the break-in process. The sonic potential of the cable drops to 50%. It may be difficult to listen during this time. This is when some of our customers make a pre-mature return, missing out on the full sonic glory of the product.

"The cables went into breakin hell... shrill, mobil soundstage, and downright strange sonics... my house was suddenly relieved of its pests and vermin... local birdlife flapped away noisily... my dog ran off and didn't look back... fish in the acquarium gave me the stinkeye... the grass began to wither...but today, Mr. Morrow, heaven has been restored... remarkable cables... getting better... but oh what a ride! Btw, the dog returned and the lawn looks great!"..."

:hyper: Hilarious!

There's more BS there than it takes to fertilize all of Nebraska's corn fields.

Once again I have proven to myself that this thread is truly akin to the "Pictorial Encyclopedia of Disfiguring Diseases of the Skin"............so grotesque that I cannot keep myself from looking :-)

Obviously you can get the same results with a normal cable if you leave it under a pyramid for a few weeks.

'Many people believe, and have tried to prove, that this shape has special powers including the ability to...cure ills.
Didn't help Khufu all that much. :D

If you believe you ignored the marketing hype, that's fine. (But I think your wallet might beg to differ. ;))

One could paint a bright blue sky on the lenses of their sunglasses, too, and tell everyone that beautiful days follow them everywhere.

I never claimed that it sounded better. I was saying that it's a well made product that I couldn't whip up myself at home.

I don't even believe that.
UL actually tests physical pull on cables, so that wires don't get exposed if they're tripped over or yanked on.

No evidence of testing of physical strength is better with these cables than a UL tested and labeled cable. You can't tell by looks alone or what feels good in your hands.
