Opening for Korn

My band just got put on the bill to open for Korn in Milwaukee,WI on May 15th on the Jagermeister Tour. I am really stoked! I have never played a venue this size before yet open for a band like Korn. Anyone have any advice for me? I am going to bring the following setup 1-Warwick Pnut II bass, GK 2001rb running bridged through an 8 ohm GK Neo 410 cab. I think I will be fine or should I bring 2 cabs?

It's Jagermeister.

And they will have adequate monitoring, you probably won't need a big backline.

Now, my music was totally different than theirs, but still.......amazingly rude people.

I just checked that out wow! I couldn't imagine playing to a crowd that size. But this is still a great experience for me.

i think, because they had nothing signed and it was all word fo mouth, they got replaced by someone else or something like that. just a heads up to have all of your agreements sorted out before committing any real time.

I just starting reading that thread I didn't see that one at first. I thought you were just talking about the crowd size and tour size.

IME Bring both cabs. You're the local opener so you may only get vocals in the monitors and besides it's not always about functionality. You and you're rig need to be bigger than life so that you can be seen in the back row.

Good point! We are traveling from Indiana to play this gig, so I figured I would get some input.

At least you wont have to worry about your tone, korn fans are rather open to "different" sounds .

then definitely make sure you have all the necessary signed paperwork.

That's awesome! I play nothing like Fieldy I have a rather warm sounding bass tone.

my guitarist used to work for Korn's record label. He says they all hate each other, and hate the music they play, but anything for a dollar.

That wasn't my experience at all. My old band and manager - we used to hang out with them regularly, and they were always cool. We were on the same label as well. Been to their B-Day parties, 4th of July stuff - they always treated people the way people treated them.

But everyone has different experiences.

+1 local openers always get s**t upon, especially if there's a "real" opening support act. don't count on any time for a soundcheck, so be ready to power through an adverse stage sound.
