Opening for Korn

Yeah I don't believe this at all, *** would they still be together if this was true, If i hated someone.... the last thing I would wanna do is play music w/ them, music takes such a passion to do I just don't see it this way....
My band was on the POP SUX! tour and it was a great experience. All of KORN's gear was below the stage pointing up. They were all college arenas, Disturbed played right after us.
My advice is that you should talk to each member if possible. They are very nice, Dave and Fieldy are asses, but the rest were cool, especially Jonathan who sat with our band for a couple of meals when he was around and complimented us often. Also, Head and Munky watched about 4 sets of ours from the side stage and seemed to enjoy it. They were much cooler than Disturbed. But they were OK as well overall and remembered me from that tour when I tried out for them a couple years later, so that was nice, I guess.

Don't let the booing (possibly inevitable when opening for a band of Korns magnitude) get you down. Just tune it out, do your thing and rock on. You're playing with a name brand in front of a bunch of people. There's no downside
Anecdotally, I've noticed that seeing you enjoying yourself typically annoys the **** out of people who are trying to give you a hard time (good), and makes people that are on the fence get in to your music (even better). Stage presence can be paramount...

Thanks for all the great advice. We are only playing the one show with them but we are bringing our Merch with us. This will be my 3rd show with Chemcoma so I am looking forward to it. All the songs are new to me and we are playing our 5 best that night so again it should be sweet. We are the opening act but we are willing to make the stage ours for 20 minutes lol!
May sound silly but bring a backup bass if you can, I can't think of anything worse than getting that gig and having something screw up. (Murphy's law and all that...) Seriously, good luck though

^THIS! I wouldn't bother bringing two cabs to be honest. Your sound will pretty much suck out front too and if you have too much, your vocalist will not be heard because the sound company won't care. Ever hear those stories about the local band blowing the headliner off the stage? That doesn't happen any more and it's intentional. Go, have a good time, play your best, but do not expect any cooperation from the sound guys or management at all. You'll get 10-15 minutes to set up a 5 minute soundcheck, a 15 minute break and be back up on stage playing to a half empty room.
Only exception I've ever had to this was opening for Edwin McCain. His bass player let me use his rig and told me to go ahead and adjust it how I wanted it because his tech had written down all the settings so he could just adjust it back during the change. He even let me use his pedals
Still got crap treatment from the sound guys, but not as bad as some other times...I honestly was a big Korn fan for the longest time. The band as a whole has changed, Head left, David left, and Fieldy is christian but an active member of the band. I feel, from what I have seen the band had problems, until maybe the "Take a look into the mirror" is where Head was super into his speed addiction, and according to his book this is where they all started to turn on each other. Now I think there relationship with each other is at least on mutual ground, but honestly they never really was able to reinvent themselves or just keeping it fresh like some of the bands that started with them.I feel horrible listening to Deftones getting better per album while Korn gets worse. On another note I went to one of the family values tours they were charging for meet and greets, and I was never a fan of this, they lost mad points from me.
Anyway sorry for the mini-rant. I am no big shoot bassist, but if I was you just focus, be prepared and take full advantage of the situation. I agree that some people feel the sooner you get off the sooner the headliners will get on, and frankly your band has the mic and amps, you are really the ones in control (think that one scene in wedding singer,lol).
