Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but the Traditional PH410 is actually ported. The Traditional PH610 and Traditional PH810 are sealed, though. Invalid Link Removed.

I have a number of 4x10's in the "collective," and I hang onto all of them for a reason. Any one of these could be considered "best" in the right situation, with the right amp/bass, etc. And of course, subjective opinions vary widely:

Bergantino AE410
Bergantino HS410
EA NM-410
Gallien-Krueger Neo410
Glockenklang Take 5 (4x10)
Mesa/Boogie Diesel 4x10 (Deep version)
Mesa/Boogie Traditional Powerhouse PH410
Orange OBC-410
Orange SP410 (neo drivers)
Reeves 4x10 (sealed)
Sadowsky SA410 (two)
Trace Elliot 1048H

With tube amps, the pair of SA410's or else the Reeves typically get the nod, though both Orange cabs like tubes, as well. My favorite overall is probably the Glockenklang, with both Bergs coming in very close. The GK is right up there, and a great bang for the buck. My old Mesa/Boogie Diesel still sounds great, but at 120+ lbs, it's not worth the risk of bodily injury to continue to gig with it (I have hundreds of gigs on that cab, though). The new Traditional PH410 has a very unique voice which works fantastic with some heads, but it's not a universal fit. The Trace is very flexible, and likes both tube and solid state heads, but again, it's a big, heavy beast.

Lots of great choices, IMHO/IMHO.

No I kept it 8 ohm. It's 4- 8ohms speakers. They also make nearly identical speakers in 4ohm, I chose 8 ohm because I've been playing bass for over 20years and I've had better luck with 8 ohm and 16ohm speakers. I also use a crown power amp thats that's rated 1050w at 8 ohms so I wasn't concerned with getting maximum efficiency out of he amp.

I will take a moment to mention the DNA DNS-410 again. I was playing SWR's since 1986. Die hard fan, but always hated the brittle horns. They always seemed to be uncontrollable. Actually most all 4x10 cabinets had problems with horns. The DNA is clean, clear, not brittle at all and e. asily controllable. However, it is a beast. 80 pounds or so, and a bigger box than most. So it has some disadvantages, but man does it sound really good

After downsizing my rig and finding a Genz Benz Shuttlemax 9.2 I wanted to find a 4x10 cab that would handle the amp's power and I didn't want to haul around 2 cabs. There were not many 4x10 cabs that would handle the amp's 900 watts. I was on a fairly tight budget, so I went with the Carvin. It is rated at 800 watts continuous and I went with the 4 ohm, so I am using the full power of the amp. I have practiced and gigged with this combination for almost a year now with no problems...great headroom, great sound and it's small and compact. When other musicians hear us live they usually come up to look at my rig. They can't believe the great sound and power that comes from such a small, lightweight setup. Most bassists around here have the old heavy amps and think they need an 8x10 cab and most of them sound like mud. The Genz Benz has a powerful punchy sound that really cuts through the mix. I mix the tube and clean channels and it sounds great. Best part of it is the amp weighs around 7 pounds and my whole rig with 2 basses, stand, accessory bag etc. all fit in the back of my little Hyundai Veloster Turbo.

Yes, after hearing the HDN410 at the NAMM Show, I would definitely add it to your audition list. That TecAmp 410 was also quite impressive.

If it had to be a 410 I'd get a Bergantino HD410. I loved the tone of that model with my bass (don't own one though).

To give you an idea of my tone dislikes in a 410 cabinet, I don't like the SWR Goliath, Hartke 410xl, Eden 410xlt. I prefer a mid driver over a tweeter (I play custom 12" + 6" cabs) but the Bergantino design had In smoothness I had never heard out of a 410.

If sealed is a requirement then I'd go Berg NV610 - not really heavier than a 410 but easier to move.
