Opinions on Spector

I actually have the 4 string Rebop, which for having only paid 500 new for it, it rocks. Plays wonderfully, nice sound, about all you can expect from a bass for the prics. I may look into the Czech basses, as I just found out itll be at lest 1900 for a USA spector, so I may be backin down to Euro. GOtta run real quick, but can anyone name spector 5s that do not have a painted neck?

I would like to run an idea by you guys.

What about a rebop 5 and change the pickups?

That would be almost a grand cheaper. Do you think it'd sound ok?

That's what I did with my NS2000/5, plus went with an EMG BQ tone circuit...I have an EMG DC at the neck and a CS at the bridge. The HZs are nice, but the fully active pickups add some real beef to my tone.

Thats what Im thinking. Putting some active EMGs with an Aguilar 3 band pre.

Another question, are the shape of the necks about the same on all Spector 5 strings?

Nope. The US bolt ons are sleek. The rest are a little chunky.
