Orange AD200B and Eden D210XLT

Firstly: will this combination work in terms of power output (a 200W amp into a 350W cab)?

Secondly: any guesses/initial reactions as to whether the tone from it will sound good (tube amp with an 'open', 'hi-fi' cab). I'm asking this because I guess there's a tendency to match amp and cab on a like for like basis, ie. an Orange amp with an SVT cab would on paper make more sense. Could an Orange AD200B and Eden D210XLT work together in terms of tone?

Only you'd know if the two sounded good, 'cause that's subjective. But, I can tell you, that if you'll only be using the one cab, 2 10's most likely will not be enough. Even though the cab is rated for more power than the amp might provide, I think you'll be disapointed. I'd be looking at sealed 410's, or 212's myself. Check that, if it were really up to me, it'd be a pair of 15's, but you get what I mean.

Hi,
I have an Eden 210XLT cabinet - in fact I have several of those cabinets. One 210XLT cabinet is OK for small club and low volume gig such as a blues gig.
For a louder gig, I would use two Eden D210XLT cabinets or one Eden D210XLT and a Eden D212XLT. That last combination sounds good with my Eden WT550 amp. And perhaps even more cabinets if you are competing with a loud drummer or guitarist with Marshalls.

Have a great day!

Dave

BElieve me, THAT all tube 200w amp will BLOW the SPEAKERS (read BALLS) outta that cab if U turn it up much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
An amp THAT powerful NEEDS lotsa speaker area to be able for it to MOVE air!!! at LEAST a 1x15!!! Preferable 2x15"s or 4x10-prefferably 6x10/810 etc... You WILL hear it sound BAD B4 the drivers BLOW, -a farting, flapping noise = Spkrs about to BLOW!!

That amp will be fine with that cab IF YOU prefer all tube amps!! In fact you'll probly NEED that much amp to get a decent amount of volume outta the small cab. IDEALLY you'd get more speaker area to give U more volume etc from that VERY ABLE amp.
BUT that amp/cab will do a beautiful sound, just keep it BELOW where the speakers start to 'over-excurse' or fart out!! :-) If U WANT All Tube sound, then that amp will do great, I'd recommend other cabs, but aint many small cabs I know of that I'd recommend for it. BUT I'd probly go for a 1x15 rather than a 2x10" I know a 1x15 cab will handle the 'ooomph' better! AND give a great tubey old school sound... But as I say - if U want that cab- That amp will be fine- as long the impedance is matching etc.. & U can add another 2x10" later if needed!
GO FOR IT!! But IF U R gonna Keep the cab AND get a different amp- All tube... I dunno- Apart from The Peavey VB-2, or the V4/B/BH Ampegs(100w), or some ol' Fender Bassman or Showman(100-130w IIRC) MOST all tube amps are NOW BIG amps- 300w & up! If you want a GOOD amp-not tube but still sounding a fair bit like it- A Mark Bass LMII is a great option-& add a Tech21 VT bass pedal for an AMPEG tube amp sound,........ GET the AD-200B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, thanks guys. Looks like it's a wise idea to steer clear of that combination then!

Any ideas of a decent alternative to the amp head then? The size of the 210 is about right for our van and we're only getting small to medium sized gigs anyway.

I'd prefer tubes!
Well the real problem is cab size and speaker count, you cant get a quart
out of a pint pot.
Would you be looking for a totally clean sound because if you actually run a rig with only two tens undistorted no amp will blow them.
The Orange AD 200B will get you everything an Eden 2 X 10Xlt can do
its just your responsibility to avoid the Orange tearing the arse out of it. If you make a series y lead you can simply pick up another 4 ohm Eden 2 X 10Xlt or plug up to a decent 4 ohm cab (if possible already at a venue) remembering to switch the amp over to eight ohms for this
purpose.
If you are into synth pedals and or distortion you will need an 8 X 10
to hold on to the Oranges 4 X KT88 growly grunt.:D
