ORANGE BASS TERROR: The Review!

1,000 watts for something that's already a little monster... This is all getting a little over-the-top. My TE 250SMX is plenty for excellent sound (yes, ymmv) and room-filling volume and punch. Tone is tone, features are features... but this is getting to be like the Mondo-Bellyacher-Special with All-The-Bells, Whistles and Cherries that never gets finished by the fat kid.

Do you know if they are going to continue selling the 500 watters? I love my 500, but it does gain out a bit early.
I have no idea about Orange, but I know one seller I talked to that says they probably are not going to bother carrying the 500 anymore because they don't think people will buy it if they can get a 1000 for about 100 - 150 bucks more. That made sense to me too. Now, if the price of the 500 comes down accordingly, then I might reconsider.
My order for one of these has been delayed

I know they are are different beasts, but can anyone compare the AD200B all tube to the Terror Bass.
After all, they are both Orange, and wondering if they are more similar than different ?

There is certainly a heck of a lot of similarity there, with the two sharing basically the same preamp. You do hear/feel a difference between the two (output tubes have a certain magic to them), but that little Terror Bass gets amazingly close to the tone/feel of the AD200, IME/IMHO.
Funny story.
Had a low key gig this weekend with a fill in guitarist. We didn't promote as we were using it as a warmup for a bigger gig next week with the sub.
Anyways, I decided to be lazy and use the house provided cab, which was some sort of 4ohm Ampeg 1x15 with a place to hold a 3 or four space head built in, and I borrowed the Bass terror of one of the groups we were playing with. I can't really comment on the tone of the Terror, because the cab really sucked (there was pretty much a giant hole in the frequency range between open D through C) but I do know that it was ridiculously loud.
In fact, it was vibrating the head off the cab. After every song I had to turn around and slide the head over to the right because it would gradually march to the left. During the last song, which is really bass heavy and reliant on an octave pedal, the head only had about a half inch before it would have fallen off!
Cool head, the guy is a friend, so I hope to play with it again soon.

I finally got mine today and got to test it out at practise through my GK Neo 212 and this is one loud mother!
After reading most of this thread, I've got to convince my wife that I need a Bass Terror. Maybe my Yamaha BBT500 can 'break down'...
I must admit I am developing GAS for one of these things. Never played an Orange, but have seen 'em onstage a few times. This thing sounds so good in internet clips that I am getting convinced it MUST be good. My high school was orange and black colors, and any amp that says "terror" must be okay. It just looks like the lunch pail from hell. I dated a British girl for 7 years.

I think it will be really hard to turn the volume knob on the Terror1000 to the right place at bedroom practicing levels 
And obviously these little things have also two noticable advantages over the full tube Orange:
1) much lighter
2) much louder if needed (and at the same time achive the sound at any volume level)
I do hate how they look though, but this is my personal issue of course. But this range is definitely a great addition to the bass amp scene: reasonably priced, modern technology, sounds alive and has its own unique feel.
And obviously these little things have also two noticable advantages over the full tube Orange: 1) much lighter

They say it's +4 db line level, which shouldn't be that uncommon. If you keep the gain low it should be fine.
I play on the edge so I bought a -25 db microphone attenuator, which does the job on my laptop, but I haven't had the chance to test it with a PA.
Then you still have to set the EQ flat (or risk angry soundmen/bad tone), so I'm afraid getting your own tone on stage as if your amp were a monitor will still be hard.

Gotta love you Brits... Just got to make everything difficult eh? Upside down, wrong side of the road, always got to pronounce a word differently each time and then blame it on the Queen. You eat kidney pie and think fish n chips are a delicacy.
