I would say the Traynor YBA200 or the Peavey Tour VB-2 are easily the equal of or maybe even superior to the AD200 from a build perspective, and they both retail around $900 USD.
Having played a Traynor 200 and owning an AD200, they might or might not be equal from a build perspective but tonally the AD200 is streets ahead IME/IMO.
I had a YBA-200 for a while and I spent hours messing with it to try to find a sound I was happy with. I could never get rid of that crunchy, grindy sound, even with a 12at7 NOS preamp swap. I plugged into an AD200b and found my sound right away. Smooth, present and warm.
Good point on the Peavey though. I've heard that people have enjoyed theirs. Could be worth trying one.
