Ordering from BassStrings Online? Maybe just me but...

I keep reading about the great service people receive from bass strings on line. But I am not seeing it.

I ordered 2 sets of strings 8 days ago. I promptly got an e-mail back confirming my order. I called today to see what the status of my order is and I was told my one set of strings were not in stock. And they won't be sent out until the end of this week. 2 weeks after my order was placed.

It seems to me if strings are not available I should be notified somehow. I had a similar experience last month when I ordered a bunch of strings.

I may be jaded from the type of service I receive from Amazon. And I may have too high of expectations, but I feel disrespected as a coustomer. And the comments the shipping guy made as I called to inquire about the strings did not help. "That's the way they do things around here."

" but I feel disrespected as a coustomer."

seriously?

Yes I am serious. And I was pissed. When a company keeps my cash, doesn't send the product, and is then very unpleasant when I call to see what is happening. I'm pissed. I needed those strings for the tour I'm on right now.

I did receive a call from Jason just now. He explained to situation, and was very nice. A little communication goes a long way.

Yes, they have had my money for 2 weeks. They promised me that I would have my strings by today, and they still have not been sent.
A little communication goes a long way. If they are not able to send me the products the have on their website, just send an e-mail. I'm out on tour this next week with out the strings I needed. If they weren't going to be able to ship the strings in a reasonable amount of time, I should be notified. I could have picked the up elsewhere. Which is no longer possible anyway sine they have my money.

Please get in touch with me...

It seems like it's become a hit-or-miss scenario in recent days with bassstringsonline. I ordered two sets of strings back on September 2nd, one of which (Rotosound Steve Harris flats) was out-of-stock and would be in within 5-7 days. It's now October 14th, and I've still only received my 5-string set. I got a cheap P-bass knockoff with a neck that needs adjusting and want my new set before I take it to my tech.

I've contacted Jason on a couple different occasions, September 14th (got a reply on the 16th), September 29th (with a reply October 4th, after PMing him on here) and I replied to that email October 5th, with a response on October 8th. I did request on September 29th to switch to Chromes that he had in-stock, but as of today (October 14th), still nothing. My order still shows Rotosound flats instead of the Chromes, and I'm waiting and waiting for my strings.

I've had an issue previously with Jason not getting an order out to me right away, but when I sent a message I got a quick response and the order shipped quickly after that. As of today, I'm no longer sure. I've spoke to other members who have had similar problems, so I know it's not just me. I understand people being busy, but it's been six weeks at this point and it feels like I'm getting the runaround.

In your particular case Misfit, your strings have been on order with the Manufacturer since before your order was placed. I never expected them to take this long as they usually fulfill much faster. I have a message into them requesting an eta.

When your order came in we shipped the other item since this one wasn't available.

What would you like me to do?

Actually.. I see you requested a change of product but I didn't see the message when you confirmed it for some reason. I'll take care of it.

Thank you for letting me know.

Unfortunately when you requested the order change I was out of town. (Been looking for a new place to relocate to lower overhead etc)... Unfortunately I missed my note to modify your order so it was still waiting for the original set ordered.

As much as I love responding to every message when ever I can (even on weekends, holidays, when out of town, etc etc) this is a perfect example as why it is best for me to only answer messages regardless of content while I am in the office so I can fully address the issue at that specific moment.

I will use this situation to help me further improve the business. I will still do all I can to answer messages any time of day or night, but I will handle them differently going forward.

Well, I recently ordered a set of La Bella 760N Black Nylon Tapewounds. The strings arrived quickly, but they were the wrong ones! He sent a set of 760N-B--the 5 string version--instead! :D

Now I just figured he was out of the 760N, and substituted this more expensive set to provide excellent customer service. But regardless of the why, I'm giving him kudos, cause I am a happy customer!

Yes. Sometimes when an item is not in stock but we have a 5-string set or even a 6-string set that contains the same strings you purchased we will make this substitution at our expense to get you what you ordered faster. In this case, you can discard or save the string... What ever you would like. As you can see the set is factory sealed and we did not want to break the seal so we can save a few bucks.

Just got a new shipment of 760N's in yesterday so plenty in stock now :D

How does one claim the Talkbass member discount on BSO?

The discount is not specific to "Talk Bass" and no "Talk Bass" supporting membership is required. The discount program is a "VIP" program available to any users that request to be a VIP. To become part of the "VIP" program you simply need to just ask to become a VIP. It is supposed to be a "Word of Mouth" thing.

Jason at BSO is the absolute best for strings and most bass gear. He has always went above and beyond to keep me as a customer. I'm loyal to those who take care of me so I will continue to do business with him.

Thank you so much! That really does mean a lot to me!
