Ordering from BassStrings Online? Maybe just me but...

I ordered some strings Monday, and another set today because I can't make up my mind about anything :)

Anyway, Bass Strings Online is the only place to buy strings. There's a reason everybody on TalkBass orders from him, and the TB user discount doesn't hurt!
I mentioned the TB discount in the comments section when I ordered strings from them and never got it. Are still offering that discount?

Please reply to your order confirmation email with the question. I know last month there were a few of those requests. The accounts were setup as VIPs but the products purchased were already on sale so no extra discount was available.

Please send an email and I'll look into it.

I've ordered from BSOL since march 2014, and it seems when I did the math just now that I've shopped for around 900 USD there so far. Only strings, although I know they stock other bass stuff too. I've had a hiccup, once, but nothing that communication couldn't fix. I also agree that Jason here is one of the most service minded business men I've met. I've had him go the extra mile more than once to get my order through, like sending a five string set when they were out of four string sets, et cetera.

It helped alot when the web site came with an inventory per product, too. I will definately continue buying my strings from him, even though I live in Norway.

Today I got a suprise package of free stuff from BassStringsOnline. Totally wasn't expecting this.

1 little set of fingernail clippers with a bottle opener on a keyring With the BSO logo on them.
1 set of Elixer bass strings (same gauge as the last set I bought from him back in march)

I don't know what to say. I'm bowled over. Thank you Jason, you really didn't have to.
I'm not sure why you sent them. I can only assume it was because of my post earlier in this thread:

...And yet you went ahead and posted the rant?

Have you ever stopped to think about what it might be like to run a small business like his? Trying to keep hundreds of products in stock from several dozen different manufacturers and fill, pack and ship god knows how many orders a day, communicate with all those customers and try to handle backorders for those products that have sold out? I'm not sure if he has an employee or two to help him, but if he does that brings a whole new wrinkle of complication into things.

Give people a break and go find something real to rant and rave about. Believe it or not there are actual problems in the world. People are dying of starvation, being murdered in wars, suffering from painful diseases, etc... If those things aren't happeining to you, take a moment to appreciate how good you actually have it. Then think about your bass string order and your post.

Now Jason probably doesn't want me posting that was the reason for then everyone will come out of the woodwork expecting they deserve a nice set of strings for their comments too. But if you are thinking that way then you probably don't deserve any free stuff. And I don't feel I really deserve it either just for calling out something I thought was silly on an internet forum. But I felt I had to share this cause it's just one more example of why Jason is a really nice and generous guy who sincerely cares about his customers.

I mean, think about it... most stores who might do something similar would likely send a set of the cheapest strings they have. But I don't use just any old bass strings. Jason (who apparently was moved by what I posted) took it upon himself to look up "Nev375" in his system, match that to my email address of the same name, examine my previous orders. And I need to take a moment to point out that I'm NOT a customer who has bought much stuff off him. I get a ton of mileage out of these Elixirs, so its like a set or two every other year. He ain't gettin rich off my business. But then he sends me another free set of one of his more expensive products because that's what I ACTUALLY USE.

Think about that...

That's called Integrity, and that's called customer orientation.

That's why He deserves your business.

He did not ask me to write this. I'm rambling on and on and waxing poetic like a frickin' goofball because I'm so happy somebody sent me a free gift thats actually something I want and will use. That sort of thing never happens to me. I feel like I won a lottery of some kind without ever buying a ticket. I'm just hoping I can return the favor by convincing a few people who aren't buying stuff from him to becoming his customers and spending huge wads of cash there.

Good luck Jason and Thanks so much dude. Now I got to go and try to get those clippers back from my wife before she claims them.

And before anyone asks, yes, I know the rules. Here's the pic.

The website seems to offer VIP at account creation time, but you're SOL if your account already exists. However, putting a note in my order comments worked! :bassist:

You are NEVER SOL with BassStringsOnline! If you have an existing account and are not setup as a VIP, send me a direct message or email and I will set your account up. That simple...

VIP accounts are FREE... You just need to ASK... It is an exclusive program to those who know about it. If you are reading this message then you know about it and are eligible. No memberships to any other sites or forums are required to be a VIP user.

I was referring to the automated system, sir. Notice right there in my post where I mentioned that reaching out to you, even in the weird tiny way of a comment on an order, works. You folks at BSO are clearly on top of things in a major way, and you've got 100% of my strings 'n such business for the forseeable future.

There is no way to request VIP status unless a message is sent.

The emails generated through the website aren't working properly at the moment... This includes "New Customer Registration" emails. So when you register and if a note is in the comments we do not see it.

Please send a separate message regarding VIP requests.

Thank you! Looking forward to working with you more in the future!

These messages are for your info and others so the most information possible is provided.

@SLaPiNFuNK
Got my strings today! Thanks so much for going the extra mile for me Jason. Sorry we had a brief misunderstanding about my original order, it did get a bit convoluted there due to some strings going out of production and me changing my mind due to my gigging circumstances.. But we got there!
Thanks for making good and sorting me out with the Lowriders (and bits and bobs)
Already planning my next order! (new bass on it's way)
Cheers!

Jason is a hell of a Spector dealer too... bent over backwards to get me the last matte black Euro 4LX in stock even though I could only send him a partial payment, then was stressed out more than I was when USPS lost the bass for a day when it was shipped via Express Mail. Also has great prices on Hipshot products and a lot of the Darkglass stuff. If I need to buy more new Spectors or strings, he is definitely my guy. He's provided by far some of the best customer service I've ever received in my lifetime.

I keep reading about the great service people receive from bass strings on line. But I am not seeing it.

I ordered 2 sets of strings 8 days ago. I promptly got an e-mail back confirming my order. I called today to see what the status of my order is and I was told my one set of strings were not in stock. And they won't be sent out until the end of this week. 2 weeks after my order was placed.

It seems to me if strings are not available I should be notified somehow. I had a similar experience last month when I ordered a bunch of strings.

I may be jaded from the type of service I receive from Amazon. And I may have too high of expectations, but I feel disrespected as a coustomer. And the comments the shipping guy made as I called to inquire about the strings did not help. "That's the way they do things around here."

Really? I would love to but shipping plus conversion rates makes it more costly than here in Australia. How are you saving anything?

The cheapest i've been able to get D'addario flats here in Australia is $60 delivered and i've had problems with the last two purchases. My latest purchase from Jason at BSO cost $56 delivered. It's only $4, and if the exchange rate changes too much it won't be worth it but I like to support people who take a real interest in their customers.
