Also, just as an off-guess, I am going to say the tone is based off an Orange AD200, with or without a pedal or two. But, hoping this magical tone can be had in a stomp-box......even though I learned several years ago that there is no cheap lunch, let alone free lunch

Last time I saw Ghost, opening for Opeth I believe, he was definitely using an Orange bass head. And Fender P Bass.
When I listen to it, it almost sounds like a Dimarzio Model P pickup being hit super hard into a gritty amp. I used to get that tone this way.

The tone on From the Pinnacle to the Pit is pretty good too. I'd say an OCD of some kind into a good tube amp. The P bass and pick are doing a lot of the work there.
I've been aware of Ghost for years. I like their bit, but can't really get behind them. The tunes on the latest one are pretty good but the guys voice is a deal breaker. Its just so flat; no fire at all.

Interesting how polarizing the vocals are with this band. I really like the juxtaposition of their "evil" look with their subtle, almost elegant sound and stage movements.
The image will be an uphill battle especially in the USA to be as big as they probably envision themselves being but the new album is a fantastic piece of music.

Never heard of them...but...i really like them...great tone...obvious theatrical presence..and you can tell he can really sing, almost sounds like he's holding back a bit,instead of overdoing it...nice!

He is also wearing a mask. The skull makeup is applied to a latex mask, can't be easy to play or sing in those outfits.

There is a rumour that the bass player for Ghost is Leif Edling (from candlemass and avatarium). If that's the case, he always used a 57 P-bass and driven tube amps (mesa 400+ or orange ad200.)

I've been digging these dudes for a year or so. Love the old school metal vibe, and the LACK of cookie monster vocals.

I can't say what it is. I can say that I feel I could approximate it with an Aguilar Agro depending on the bass and amp. I think that the B7k statements/suggestions aren't unreasonable based on my brief ownership period with one.

Don't know the answer, but I can say their live show sounds exactly like the record. Also the Nameless Ghouls didn't appear to have any pedals in front of them, as they roamed all over the stage, so I would imagine any effects triggering is done offstage by the sound crew; makes it tricky to guess what they used.

So if one's using it, the other probably is as well. And there might be a slight possibility that the bassist is using one as well. The more I read about bands that use an Axe Fx, the more I see them ALL using it and running a whole stage show, lights, effects changes in real time with a click/backing track.

Saw these guys last month in the last venue of that small size they'll ever play in Seattle, I bet. Couldn't see what was at his feet, but he seemed to be everywhere dieing almost every song.

PS, never realized they were this popular. When I saw them on the A7X tour, my buddy and I were one of about six people there that REALLY seemed to be digging them. I was shocked when we went to columbus a couple months ago to see them to find the line to get in a couple blocks long. Granted, they are playing smaller/mid-size venues...but most are sold out.

Amazing technology. Specifically the pro-tools system explained how it works. Also blown away that Behringer owns Midas. Isn't that like Kia owning Ferrari? Not that I personally dislike Behringer (or Kia).

I've seen pictures and video from a couple of years ago and he had an Ampeg SVT classic with the 810. When I saw them live in person they were all seemingly going direct in, and all I knew was that both guitarists were using Axe fx... sorry I'm not much help.. can't wait to see them again with Iron Maiden

His voice is different, especially given the band...but I'd not say he doesn't have a pretty great voice.....
