Yeah, I went through alot of basses and stopped up and thought "Wait a minute! What is my favourite bass that have been used in metal and what is the tonal charestics of it?"
And his blue P bass being one of the basses I always have wanted since I started playing, I though "Yeah, why not!"
Its a 70's model pickguard, I have no idea... I love the idea of a mirrored pickguard. I think I read somewhere that Phil Lynott had one so he easily could target pretty girls in the crowd..
It carries alot of attitude with it, like, you have to be up front with a bass looking like that.
On some of the new American Specials, they have a mirrored gold pickguard. I don't like it as much as the silver.

He had a Mirror Guard on most of his basses, he also used it to blind random people!
Where did you get yours, btw, I'd love one, got some mirror plexiglass, but theres scratche in the back, I'm gonna try it anyway though, might look cool.

Do you guys recommend the SX P basses? I have a Fender American Deluxe P-bass (will post pics later) that is my main bass, but I want to get an inexpensive P-bass with passive pick ups and put flat wounds on it. Are they good out of the box or do they need upgrades? Thanks
After many many years I bought myself a Precision on Saturday, a Made in Japan 57 re-issue, E serial number so i guess it's from the mid-eighties. I used her for the first time at practice last night and it ruled! I intend to change the pickguard, definitely thinking of 3 ply black, I'm not really a fan of white ones.

That 2 color burst just SCREAMS out for a gold anodized vintage style PG.Cheers! I was thinking of the anodized gold one first but got worried I might get a bit fed up with it. I know a black PG may not completely the 50s look but I think it would be cool. Then again I like the idea of parchment as well.Nice find

That combo goes nice with the rosewood fingerboard.
Although, is it my perception or does the Candy Cola looks darker in that picture than it actually is?
I would love me an American Standard in Candy Cola, with white p/g and maple fingerboard.
Its the pic, mobile phone, darkish room, the weather here is too bad for outdoor natural light pics.
I know, they're awesome, I saw one last year, I fell in love with it, though it was a Jazz, a P'd be better! The price was outrageous though, the shop was way overpriced, E1700. Not a chance.
