Anyone played the Squier Classic Vibe 50's P? I played one today. Sounds pretty good. It had Rounds because it was GC and they're shipped with Rounds. It would've sounded much better with flats IMO. Neck is really nice, action pretty high. My first experience with a non-split coil P. I prefer the split-P. Good times. I recomend one though!

I have played (and bought) the VM TB wth flats. It has a Fender Humbuker that is just so very "thumpy". The quality, fit & finish is very very nice on this Squier. It was the first "P" that I have tried/owned. I bought a used "Sting" P soon after and I really like them both.
The Sting-edition is my current go-to for practice and playing for the youth group at church. It also has Rotosound flats.
I like that Squier but I am diggin' the thick poly (or whatever it is) finish on the Sting. Both are sweet additions though.

Here are mine:
'69 P-J w/'73 neck (owned since '75) - lots of mods, but I still have all the original hardware too.
'86 CIJ '62 RI - Nordstrand NP4, Gotoh 201, straplocks, otherwise stock.

Both are very sweet players with low action.

Sorry about the Telecaster. I just had to sneak it in :) I mean it's Grandfather was a Precision after all.

I'm hoping to one day be able to join this club but I was wondering if you guys could help me with some MOD issues i've got.

1. I was thinking of replacing the bridge with either a Gotoh 201 or a Bad Ass II. Which one would you guys say is better?

2. I am gonna replace the stock pickups with either:
- DiMarzio 122's
- DiMarzio 127's
- Lindy Fralin's
- Wizard Thumper's
- Nordstrand NP4's

Which one would you guys choose

The Bass is a MIM Fender 50's and I normally play jazz in a big band & soul/funk in a small R'n'B band. Cheers guys.

1. Do not replace the bridge. For the styles of music you play i think you will get the best results with the original bridge. You are risking the typical p-bass sound when replacing the bridge, IMHO.

2. The Fralins for a real vintage tone or the 127 for a more modern sound. An SD Antiquity is nice tooo

Warning: This will not help at all.

I like the sound of the stock setup. I'd not change anything but the strings. I am simply lovin' my Sting-edition as-is.

edited to add....I do have a Gotoh 201 on my parts jazz and it is very nice. It also has Nordy's and I like them also...just not for a P, IMHO.

1. I would use the Gotoh 201 for the bridge.
2. The Fralins are hard to beat for a vintage sound.(ime/imho)

+1 +1 = +2 :D.

You'll lose a lot of warmth if you put any other high mass bridge on there, IMO/E.

Fralins are my P Bass pickup of choice, for a raunchy, vintage tone. NP4's are very polite and well balanced and an SD Antiquity will certainly add a lot of bottom end boom (if that's what you want).

Just my $0.02 :)
