i took off the cover of my p bass to see what it looks like. i want everyones opinion please. has it been routed ? i dont have a clue. and i'm not sure what pup to buy to put back in it.

Looks to me like it originally routed for J pup, then someone routed it for something else.

from the shape of the routing I'd say a Yamaha J pickup was probably installed at some point.

you can also see the screw holes for the Yamaha pickup ring typical to 80s vintage BB series.

My Vintage White CIJ '62 Reissue P-bass next to my CIJ '72 Reissue J-bass. The tuners are Hipshots, the bridge is Badass, and it sports a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder. The P-bass is my favorite bass I've ever owned for that pure rock sound!
