P-Bass VS Jazz Bass

Pbass is a one-trick pony IMHO. I have a Jazz Bass, and it can sounds like a pbass (soloing the neck pup) and Jaco-like style (favouring the bridge pup). Both pups up full with treble wide open It sounds like a Jazz - piano clarity, beautiful growly lows, so cool... definitely jbass is the best creation of Leo Fender!

I love the look and sound of a Jazz…slick, stylish and snarly. However, even if it's not my weapon of choice, I still respect the Precision. There's a lot of musical history laid down by it. Also, without "The P", there would probably be no "J".

Now, if it was a P vs. J vs. P/J, sonically speaking, I'd vote for the latter.

I don't like the way you have to sit with the Jazz. That lump gets in the way.

Aesthetically, I think the Jazz is hard to beat. Elegant and beautiful. And I love the neck width of the Jazzes. But I also love the perfect thump of a P-Bass, and how they sound in a live situation. Our band is getting old (okay, I guess we ARE old) and we don't play out as often as we used to; but when we do, I normally grab a P-Bass.

So for looks and feel, it's the Jazz for me. For live shows, the P's get the nod. So I can't vote. Love them both...
