I like all that stuff about jets but prefer prop planes for fun flying and short trips. Jets are best for utility class.
The one thing I never lost the thrill of is at liftoff when I get that feeling of leaving the ground and the sharpness of ground contact turns to softly damped sort of sensation. That feeling and the little waggling as the plane first finds it's track.
I also like descents for the sensation of being on a big wedge that is a controlled falling and skidding down to the ground.

I was born on an Air Force base, and spent the first 42 years of my life around jet aircraft. I loathe them. I cannot stand their kerosene stench; the high pitched whine when they're running on the ground; and the Gawdawful noise they make when they fly. On the other hand...

The Naughty Pecker
Two tall trees, a beech and a birch,
Grew tall in a secluded wood
One day a seedling sprouted between the two
And soon a young tree stood
The two trees argued. Son of a beech?
Or was it a son of a birch?
They argued back and forth until one day
A woodpecker came to perch
They asked the woodpecker to settle the case
Since he was an expert on wood
The woodpecker ruffled his feathers and smiled
And said indeed he could
So the woodpecker flew to the small tree
And tested the wood true:
“Neither son of a beech, nor son of a birch,
But the best piece of ash I ever poked my pecker into!”

I flew on a two prop maybe 15 passenger plane once about 25 years ago from Boston to the Cape, I thought it was the coolest thing, especially when the props started up, props all the way!
