Paint question

Hi all I just watched a video on refinishing and the dude shot a 2 part auto urenthane over the old lacquer paint job. Can you do this or would it be better to prime first?

Regular grey, or red automotive primer is a lacquer primer. The urethane isn't hot enough to wrinkle the lacquer, so as long as the wood is sealed, and the surface is cleaned with grease and wax remover (naphtha) there is no problems at all with spraying directly over the lacquer.
