Ive got lessons, i do like the idea of expanding the amp, got a cool wah wah fuzz pedal, got a br 600 recorder, but i might have to check out some cool instructional DVDs

Having grown up completely I would say that your parents are 100% in the wrong, and have simply lost touch with reality (many of you will think I'm joking, but sometimes I do believe this). Even if it is your money, parents will push you towards lame stuff like investing, saving or even worse yet, wasting it on stuff like books. It's something you have to live with, unfortunately. I've only just gotten to the point in my life where I can move out and become a lumberjack if I really want to. But it seems the older you get and the more freedoms you have, the less likely you are to want to do crazy things like blowing tons of money on cool stuff you don't need.

Unless you're me or tombowlus.

This is what you can do. Buy the bass in parts. When you've received everything, hide one of you current basses, and put this one on the stand instead. They wont even notice the difference ;)

Well, if you can't get a new bass, I say try getting some effects or something, or if you don't already, look into getting a nice little amp head and cabinet, you'd be surprised how good the right combination of the two can make any bass sound.

I am 17 and currently own only 3 basses a Hughes and Kettner BassBase 600 and a H&K 410 cab (not a Quantum :( )

When i was 14 i owned 2 basses and a tiny wee practice amp. I gradually just started buying basses and other bits of gear with money i earnt working at the local bakers. Her attitude was '' It's your money, so spend it on what you want ''

However, i know realise that i probably could of got by on my old Yamaha RBX270 and that wee practice amp for a few more years. Ultimatly tho' your going to spend the money anyway :hmm: so why not :)

There ya go! Focus on that, and have patience. You have many years of equipment-gathering in your future. Teenagers should not get everything they want. If they do, they become spoiled. Your folks just want to avoid that. They want you to have some sense where money is concerned.
