Parents on tour?

Skype yourself into the soundboard and have a little tv screen with you on it on stage!

I agree with the others who are of the opinion that you have a good Mom. Give her a hug, say "Thanks for caring about me so much" and either invite her to come along or recuse yourself from touring until you are 18. There will be plenty of gigs in your future.

If your friends have attempted to get you into acid KNOWING that you are a minor,it doesn't make them seem very responsible. It seems they break laws without much regard, but whats worse is they try to get a minor to break the law as well. If you stay with them I forsee many legal issues in the future.

I think your mom would be irresponsible if she let you go on tour like that. Maybe if it was a cousin or brother that she knew really well and trusted. Just the fact that your band mates are irked show's a level of immaturity and not understanding the situation. It would lead me to believe they don't want adults around for a reason.

Like others I have said, I think some states forbid minors without a guardian to enter bars. With liability issues, some restaurants are even starting to not allow minors without adults after a certain time of night.

Kudos to your mom for being a good parent, we see so much of the bad parents these days it's refreshing to see someone who cares. This is probably not the answer you wanted to see but that's my input.

You're lucky. I'm 16 and my mom would never let me leave the city, even less the province. Take the opportunity to show your mom that you AND your band mates are responsible and you guys can handle yourselves. This way, in the future, your parents will show more leniency towards shows and tours.

As a father, nope. Sorry, son you need to wait a couple years for that. Honestly the only way I'd consider it is if your mom tagged along. So, although I completely understand why you want to go,hell I would have wanted to at your age, your parents still have the ultimate responsibility for your safety and well being.

I think it's pretty awesome that they are even entertaining the thought of you going with a bit of a chaperone. Kudo's to your parents for being parents. Like it or not, one day you'll understand too.

Speaking as both a parent and a musician: It's probably worse than your mom thinks.

Where are you going? Where are you going to stay at night? Who's paying for this? What happens when you run out of money? When the car breaks down? When a problem or disagreement arises and the only apparent solution is dangerous or illegal?

What will you do when you're in a remote town at night with two or three other guys, your gear is in their vehicle, and you have no say over what happens next?

As an adult, I wouldn't go on a tour with a bunch of kids. I've heard too many stories from guys who spent years on the road. The only way I'd go is if I could be in complete control of my own transportation and lodging.

In all seriousness, I'm only 22 but I don't think I would let a 16 year old go alone, just for safety's sake. Why not let mom tag along? She might be proud to see you out there rocking. It may be a good trust-building experience too.

We understand why your bandmates are irked – it's not easy to hit on the honeys and get them back to the hotel room with SuperMom hanging around...

But she's just that, SuperMom, for willing to sacrifice HER time to go with some over-testosteroned young lads on tour.

Your mom is awesome. If your bandmates can cool their jets a bit, they'll realise it, too. Make sure that once your bandmates realise it, that they don't hit on her thinking she's like Stifler's Mother or something.

BTW, I hope your friends that convinced you to try acid aren't your current bandmates as well. If so, all the more reason for mom to tag along.

Good luck, I hope it's a reasonable and responsible outcome and you get to tour.

Your still a minor and she's physically and financially responsible for you. If, for some reason you ended up in jail, through no fault of your own, she'd have to drive/fly to get you out, pay for an out-of-state attorney and ferry you back and forth to the hearings.

As a dad, you're lucky she has the time to go with you. For me, I'd tell my son to wait until he's eighteen to start planning tours.

Good luck.

This, over and over again. Read it until you can recite it in your sleep.

If you want to play music you gotta do what you gotta do. We traveled with parents at a young age. It was actually kinda nice having a "bus driver" that kinda kept us organized and on schedule. As we got older and the parents stopped tagging along we actually started traveling less and less. These days we don't normally travel more than a few hundred miles because everyone wants to stop at gas stations and take 45 minutes for something that should take 10 minutes max and so on. Because we all live about 50 minutes apart we also travel to shows in pairs or on our own a lot now also.

if your mom is as stubborn as many moms seem to be to their teenagers, there's probably nothing you can do. But tell her that if you had wanted to smoke or drink or any of that sh*t, you would have already done that. Even her coming on tour cannot completely prevent that; she's not with you at all times.

Or maybe that's the complete wrong approach.

If any of the places serve alcohol you should only be allowed in with a parent or responsible adult. If you were my 16 year old son you would be waiting until you were 18 to go on any kind of tour.
