Paul Gray form Slipknot found dead

this sucks.
ya, it sucks. when you're about to be a father and that isn't a good enough reason to quit doing enough drugs to kill you, it really does suck. but not for him and not for the fans. it sucks for the wife and kid. especially the kid. well here's hoping that the kid will at least have half a shot at a normal life now that he won't be around to bring that influence in his/her life.

sheesh...what a pathetic way to go, eh?

You can make the case that addiction is a disease, in which case it's really not that selfish, just tragic. People use for lots of reasons, but think of how stressed out you would be as a touring musician with a baby on the way. Now imagine you have no copping skills and your only tool for emotional regulation is substance abuse. I'm not defending hard drugs at all, I just think it's more sad than selfish.

Gotta quote here;

RENTON: I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who need reasons when you've got heroin?

RENTON: People think it's all about misery and desperation and death and all that shite, which is not to be ignored, but what they forget is the pleasure of it. Otherwise we wouldn't do it. After all, we're not ****ing stupid.

Guys!

A man just died, show some respect.

If you don't have anything nice to say at all, then don't say it.

Now lets try to keep this thread open and clean.

No offense, but I don't think openly criticizing drugs is a bad thing, and it certainly wasn't done in a rude away - just very blatant. Many are just angry that drugs have claimed another musician and that, in lieu of everything, people still don't have sense enough to stay away from certain drugs.

Maybe you were referencing other posts, but that's my two cents.

i'm sorry, but what kind of selfish person dies of an od and leaves a pregnant wife behind? you would think being a father would at least cause him to calm down a little bit with the drugs. didn't seem to miss a beat.

RIP, selfish dude.

fatherhood Didnt clean up Cobain either. I don't think he was being selfsih- he was addicted- but certainly had the money to get into rehab. What a waste, he will certainly be missed:crying:

who's this nutjob? ;) honestly, i think he sounds ****ing stupid.

anyway, i don't want to come across as unsympathetic. i do feel bad for the guy. i don't think he was a bad guy. but man, when you're bringing a kid into the world, how can that not change you for the better and give you an incentive to kick drugs? i guess i don't understand the addict mentality. i've done my share but never anywhere close to that level.

Did they determine it was actually an OD? I heard that it was inconclusive and they were going to do a tox screen.

That's what I understand as well. They haven't done the tox screen yet so nobody really knows at this point. His name escapes me but remember the singer from Drowning Pool that died a few years ago? People were running off about how he must have OD'd and whatnot but it turned out he was totally clean and died of, I think, a heart condition.
