all custom shop logos are in this location , its prinicipal that they scammed you and thats messed up i would say that 200$ is a fair deal the rest should be refunded

I think a full disassembly will tell you if its real or a fake. Even just the control plate will tell you alot. But IMHO I would look into a return if its at all possible.

Im a big Fender fan and sorry to say, it is a fake! this is not the first one i've seen
with the CS logo on it even in the wrong place, also the CS would never use those tuners either.Sorry man.

i say keep it, its a great bass, but ask for 100$-150$ refund. the decals are worth 20$ or so..

No, the bottom line is the OP was defrauded! You can get that bass anywhere brand new for $250-$300.

so worst case, factoring in ~$50-100 for a semi-decent case, maybe I paid new prices for a used bass. Not the end of the world, but not a great deal I first thought. Shoulda know I guess. Ah well, It's still a good fun story. And it did sound good, regardless, for the short time I messed around with it.

So you guys are thinking someone went to the trouble to change the neck logos/decals to get a few more bucks from a pawn shop? Maybe. Could be. But if they sold for $400, they bought far less than that, so maybe the owner got a $100 bucks or so for all his trouble?

And the serial number? Yeah maybe that could be faked well.

Still, the "work" looks pretty nice. So if they faked it, they did a good job of it.

I appreciate all the help guys...it's entertaining, and educational, too!

And what the heck, I still like it...whether I keep it or not, who knows...sound is everything...I'll try it out some at our gig tomorrow night.

Definetly a Squire...no question about it. If it plays good keep it and get a partial refund for the difference, if it was a pawn shop they prolly aren't hawks like us and didn't know.

I do care, and may indeed go back for a refund or a return. Not sure how that'll work out. They're closed for now. But thanks for all the help, guys. Very good info.

^exactly, personaly i would try to deal with the pawn shop first and if they won't
do anything maybe the authorities will, they should be fully aware of what they are selling. Peroid!

They usually take $75 for squiers, I had to pawn a bass once... that's what they wanted. But with the CS logo and the selling price Imma sure the guy got about $150 for it

Well, at least the pickups seem different, in the pictures the thread starter linked to, I can't make the "Duncan Designed" logo.
