I love that little thing, and I'm wondering what larger U.S. made heads or combos also from the silver strip era might have been manufactured. I'd absolutely love to have this exact tone in a larger package. By the way, does anyone know what the brand/type of speaker they used in these? I know it's an 8", but that's about it. :)

From what I understand, the 80s era MicroBass riffs on the preamp voicing of an Ampeg. Don't quote me on that, but I remember reading about that from a couple different sources.

Well she is biased and tube rolled the preamp, and racked and ready for fun, PIA getting matched power tubes for some reason. Thinking maybe some LED lighting inside the Alpha and under could be nice touch.

It sounds big and warm, not hi-fi at all, although it can do pretty nice cleans. The preamp has a LOT of gain on tap and can get very crunchy and it's really flexible with two EQ sections. I haven't really had the time to play with all the sounds yet but it seems very promising.

And they're built like tanks, everything looks and feels like very good quality.

I have the Peavey Max Bass preamp which has tube and solid-state sections. The tube section controls of the Max looks just like the TB Raxx without the "voicing" controls (also a "punch" switch instead of the Gain Boost and Shift switches). Really solid amp and the tube section sounds particularly good.

Arg. A friend of mine ended up with a clean MKIV head and two 2x15" Scorpion cabs from an estate sale. He has no use for them and has been trying to sell them for a couple months. No bites.
He offered the lot to me for a killer deal, just to get rid of it. That catch is that I don't really have the room nor use for them, and the wife would not be OK stashing them at the house if I were to try to flip them.
I would love to have that head and one of the cabs. Many of you know how monsterous that sounds!
Oh well...

Too difficult, would have to redesign the entire preamp boards. The same functionality can be done with say an EHX Tri Parallel Mixer or Boss LS-2 with your favorite OD in one of the loops, then mixed back in with the clean channel. Done this with my VB-2, VB-3, and other amps with great results.
