Peavey Amp

I still gig a Peavey Mark IV head with a matching Black Widow loaded 2 x 15 cab once in awhile, that I bought back in the 80's. The rig hasn't even coughed up a fuse all these years, and it's been gigged hard. I also have a Peavey Classic 30 tube combo amp that I love for my guitar duties. Yes I'm a Peavey fan, and there ain't nothing wrong with that.

I love my Peavey gear, and get compliments all the time. Currently my main rig is a Peavey Classic 400 into a Peavey 215D cab. I also own the 1810 cab which I was using until I got the 215. I also own an older BW equipped 1x15 (don't recall the model) and a MkIV amp. None of this gear has ever given me any trouble, and I think it sounds amazing. Nothing but peavey love here.

only ever used 1 peavey bass amp, the tour 450 head,
on the + side.. a very clean sounding amp, very full and flexible EQ, well built, not too heavy (rare for peavey's i know)
on the - side, its not a very loud 450 watts, poor DI out (doesnt appear to be a post EQ option), doesn't appear to like being driven hard wimps out relatively easy when driven hard, nut in fairness to the amp, i changed band and joined a much louder band, for my previous band it performed faultlessly and i like its tone.

i've used a couple of peavey bass cabs, 115 BW black widow loaded 15" ported cab, didnt like it at all, a very middley box, no definition to the lows, heavy and awkward.
and i've used (borrowed) a 4x10 TVX, definitely a good value cab, i found it very boomy in the lows, but with good EQing can sound very good.

I love peavey ....I had changed to hartke and I just did not like the sound I got ...just me ...so I stayed wither hartke cabs ...2-10 and a 15 and run them with a peavey mark III ...and I love it ...I play a Rick 4004 and warwick and its the best sound for me .....so I'm a born again lover of the peavey amps and should have never changed ...live and learn ....lol

I know its kinda late for this post but....... On a gig some years ago a guy I know wanted me to play through his rig. He always dogged my Peavey TNT 130. He set his up & he was using an SWR head and a nameles 4x10 cab. It sounded awesome with his Spector 5. So I asked what kind of cab it was & he told me it was a Peavey 4x10 & that they make one of the best 4x10 cabs on the market but didnt want anyone to know he plays through a Peavey.
I've been playing through a TNT 130 with 15" Black Widow for about 17 yrs now. I play an active bass through the high gain input & the compression light comes on alot. The only problem I've ever had was I thought I busted the speaker but only had to change the basket for about $70. I love it

Me too. At least in terms of amps/cabs. Peavey all day.

I love the Peavey gear too. I have played lots of other gear from Ampeg, Traynor, and GK. Peavey has won me over for old school tone and reliability. In the last two months I have picked up two Super Festival Series heads and love them! I mostly play my Mark VIII. from the 90's. I have two 90's 4/10 cabs and a 70's 115, all Peavey. It's my sound, weather I have other stuff or not, I take my Peavey to practice and gigs. I love this thread!
