I never knew any foundation was made of mahogany. All the ones I have are poplar. That sure does look like mahogany.
My foundations are mid 90's, I guess they did the mahognay thing in the 80's. I learn something new every day.
yeah I wish I hadn't bought the blue one. I like black better. I put a bid on it earlier today. Seems like the black one doesn't have a case though. I figure a hard shell case is worth $50 anyway.
what little experience w/ these i have has not been good...i do own a Millenium 5 bxp and love it...withh some nitpicks of couse

Booneman, look what I just snagged for a $250 buy it now. It was listed as a Peavy so the misspelling may have kept the traffic down. Opening bid was $160 but I didn't want to get into another bidding war with you 
It looks spotless. I've been stalking the bay for months looking for my perfect Peavey, checking out TL's, Dyna's and the like. I can't wait to get it, then the preamp decision comes... Bart 3 band? New ACG filter pre?

The foundation 2000's are very rare. I love the two I just bought. (including my blue one). Hey that's a rose wood board. Thats real rare in the 5 string model!
A bart pre amp huh... That might be a great Idea. I do like the pick ups the way they are. Let me know how the preamp sounds.
Got a Foundation project in the works. Snagged a red rosewood 4 off da 'bay and when it got to me, it didn't have the Superferrite pickups. Didn't have the Foundation 2000 EMG sized ones either. The bass has plenty of snap to it but it was getting lost on the way to the amp, no real punch. If you dug in, it didn't really bark. Well not like my other 3 Foundations. Sooooooo

So today I took delivery of a nearly mint Foundation. I got it from joegeezer right here at Talk Bass. (He was a great guy to deal with, BTW.) I thought I'd better post a pic. I also posted a pic of my three Peaveys together in this thread:

That was a big seller for me. I like the darker boards. I have a Tobias Renegade with a maple board that I might unload if the Peavey lives up to my expectations. I already have a tracking number, it's a waiting game now.
By the way, how many Peaveys do you have? I was watching this one

Yeah that black one is one that I'm selling. It's one of the pre 1994 split necks. I don't care for the split neck. Though some people actually prefer them. The split necks ones are balanced better but the tone is different.
Right now I have:

The purple one I just bought was the M5plus USA, the electronics are humming in that one though
So far my new fav is the blue F2000 that we were bidding on last week That worked out good for both of us because I prefer maple boards and you prefer rosewood (like the one you just bought.)I just sold a Lakland skyline 55-01, a NOVA 4 string custom, and a Carlo fretless 4 string. I promised the Dyna 4 to a friend, and I'm giving one of the foundation 4's to my 11 year old son. "He's excited about having one of Dad's old favorites." I just don't use the 4 strings any more. I have one more 1999 maple board black foundation 4 that needs to go.

Well my Foundation 2000 arrived today. It's light, comfy and plays like a dream. It's in near perfect shape with a smidge of fret wear and it looks like it took one hit from an icepick on the side.
Judging by the hum I have singlecoils so I'll try to swap out something. It looks like the Bart M5 or EMG 45 shape will fit nicely.
If you look at the back of the neck in the right light you can see the parallel marks of the CNC machine making passes down the neck. A little more finish sanding after the machine would have been nice but it works fine and is hard to notice.
Bridge spacing is a bit tight at just under 17mm but I find it slaps very well for me.

Congradulations! let me know which pickup fits without a router. I have the same in mind.
I was also looking at the bart preamps. They have a new 3 knob set up with a stacked volume/volume, stacked mid/mid shift and stacked bass/treble.
No drilling!
Any of you Foundation lovers live near San Francisco? I passed on the Foundation I had been considering but if you PM me I would be happy to let you know of it's location. It deserves a good home.
