peavey foundation

So sorry but it is a 4. Color is sort of "Inca" silver with matching color headstock. I am fairly sure it is an 80's model. I had a thread going in the past few days about it but have passed on it because I bought a Warwick Fortress One instead. Rosewood board neck. Badly set up but in real nice condition.

my first bass was a '95 peavey foundation 5 string, black w/maple fretboard. the neck always felt heavy and a little hard to play. i tried a few other basses around that time but i kept coming back to the peavey. i really miss it and i wish i had another just like it. here's a pic of me playing it, age 17:

This morning I found it at a flea market for $125 including the original hardshell case. It is possibly the same one because I sold it in the same town and it looks identical. I can't believe how good it sounds too!

Always nice to hear a story with a happy ending. Congratulations! That looks like a really sweet bass. If it is anything like mine you will really enjoy having it back.

what is the spacing on the 4's. I have been fascinated by what you get for the bucks on a peavey. I had a t-20 for a few months and wish I would have kept it. thou I probably would have done something with the electronics, I loved the feel of the bass.

Was there ever a Peavey with a single MM pup?

+1 the more I play it the more I am starting to like it...I did not post the price cause I think I might have paid a bit much for it....though Guitar Center did throw in the Rotosound Bass 77's in for free. I am trying to locate the Peavy serial number online so I can date this bass. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks. Ok the price was 300 bucks.

Yeah, the price was a bit high, but what could you have bought that is better for $300?

I finally did the pickup swap to the Foundation 2000 I bought (picture in post #48). I liked the stock pickups but need humbuckers since I hate hum and I don't have any fat dual coil basses at the moment. So I got some Bart dual coils since they were almost the same size as the Peavey's.

The original routes are long enough but not wide enough. A little bit of wood needed to come out, a router would have worked but since it only needed a little bit I just sanded it in about 10 minutes.

Then the mounting was a bit funky. The old pickups used tabs on the side, the Barts have holes on the ends. Peavey routed extra deep in the area under the Bart holes so I decided to make things extra complicated and made some mounting plates that would go in the holes and drilled and tapped 10/32 threaded holes for some machine screws I had laying around.

I found some 1.5" by 1/8" aluminum stock and went at it. Here's what they look like mounted.

I'll play it with a band Sunday but I have a pretty good idea what they will sound like.
