Peavey Fury Bass?

So... Is the hardware still decent on this model? It gets here on the 13th so I'll find the year then.

The hardware is decent on all, typical clover leaf tuners. At least on a par with Fender. I have a red Foundation with this type, and a mahogany Foundation with the nicer stuff, Grover type tuners and heavily plated bridge. They're all great basses.

I have one just like it, however, mine has a fretless neck. I LOVE my two Furys (I'm a bit of a late 70s to mid-80s Peavey bass freak. 250 seems a bit steep, but you bought yourself a quality solid player. Congrats.

It's a 90's late model Fury for sure. The hardware...tuners and bridge a bit lower quality than the early Furys. It has the narrower and thinner one piece neck with maple board. I have the identical bass. It is a great bass however and you should be pleased with it. I paid $185 for mine with case so I think you went a bit high....but they are gaining some value lately.

I would absolutely say it's the equal of a MIA P Bass - dammit! I paid $199 for mine new somewhere in the mid nineties. I thought it was a cheapie but it did the job. After many years of neglect I pulled it our and started playing around on it to get my chops back for a church gig. Now that I can afford better, bought a Gibson T-Bird which became my main player. I kept the Fury in the bedroom for "impulse practice" and restrung it with Rotosound 66's. It sounded so damned good that it gave me a hankerin for a "real" (MIA) P Bass. Took delivery of said Astec Red MIA and while I love it (especially if you're taking to my wife!), I honestly don't think it sounds or plays any better. Respect the Peavey!

1980's Fury will command more money....doesn't mean this particular bass is not a very good bass though.

I see enough Peavey Fury basses locally used that I've had the opportunity to compare them....anything under $200 that is nice sells fairly quickly...word is getting out on these but still many wont play Peavey!

Soundwise, yes. It's a P-bass through and through. Playability-wise, I would also say yes, as it can be set up however you like, very easily. The micro-tilt is amazing if you use it right. Fit and finish is closer to a MIM Fender, IMO. Not terrible, but not on-par with a US Fender. Hardware is great, very solid, but as others have said, not as good as on earlier models. Don't fret- while you may have paid a little on the high side, based solely on the market, the bass is absolutely worth every penny and then some.

Alright... how close are they to the T40s? Ugh, just kinda paranoid that I made a bad decision now, considering I see these sell with cases for like, $150, and a paid $285 with shipping and taxes :\ worst case scenario I could return it and get something else, but I meam, is there anything sub $300 worth trading this for...? I haven't even gotten it yet, I think I have a problem D: lol.. And a setup is $60 at guitar center.. x.x

You will not find anything sub $300 (or likely sub $400-$500) that will play as nice, sound as good, and made in USA, as a vintage Peavey. I love my Fury and will pass it along to my children.

The hardware is fine. Don't think of it as cheaper, but only different than the earlier versions. Having owned quite a few Peavey's, the early 90's are my preference. Still great build quality as the 80's and the different hardware gives them a more Fender feel and sound.

Okay, so, yay! I got my Fury today. It's awesome. The color is aged and it looks like banana pudding instead of the (IMO) boring Olympic white color. It plays awesome and I love it. It was in a little rougher condition than I thought it would be, but it gives it a nice roadworn look. It's dated to 1994, which isn't what it was listed as, some managed to get $35 back, so it wasn't a bad deal at all. Setup is actually pretty nice on it, but it needs new strings. D and G are those flat, upright bass style strings and have a really mellow, round sound and don't exactly match the growl of the E and A. But well, yeah. Buy one of these things! I love the glossy finish on the fretboard and neck, the color, the radius of the neck is greatz it plays well and fast, it's just a great bass for a great price.

Nice, identical to mine....also a '94. Mine also a nicely aged white. Yours has non-original knobs but they look pretty cool. The "cheapest" part of this bass is the pick guard. Single ply and kind of raggedy cut on mine. One of these days I will replace it....when I can figure out the color I want.

DavidEdenAria, this is 3rd gen with a single piece neck and a maple top board. Mine is very stable. In my opinion a lot of these bases have gotten into the hands of people that don't really know what they are doing....probably because they have such low resale....and have been poorly set up and not treated well. You should always look for as minty as possible when buying these 80's/early 90's Peavey basses. Unless you are Kodiakblair and can bring them back from the dead. That's not my thing though.
