. . . if you like a P style w a J neck, go w a mid to late 80's Fury and replace the P pickup.

For me, the value in old Furies is in the neck. I think the necks on these instruments feel particularly great. I've had a couple of them and still have one that I play a lot. They are, as someone noted, fairly light weight. Mine is bone stock except for straplocks and a set of Barts. I can't think what a Fender (American, Mexican, or otherwise) could do better. I've got a number of Fenders as well. (They are generally not shielded either.)
