I found the same thing as
@vdub75 , the basses are greatly over-rated on TB. I have a mid-90s, the P pickup is scooped so it struggles in a band mix. The truss rod is something really cheap that offers little movement. The pickguards are cheap and oddly shaped and the pots are not CTS. I do like the thinner neck and added access but I wouldn't put the quality on par with even a Fender Standard (MIM) and I would probably say it's lower quality then even Squier's current top offerings. Even with the corner cutting it is extremely impressive these things were being made in America for the price they competed at.
The Peavey is great for what it is, bang for your buck, but I think once you are paying Fender Standard prices your money is much better spent on a Fender Standard. I paid $80 for my Fury and I feel that is an appropriate price on the low end on the scale.
