Peavey GAS... please guide me!

It might be due to my large hands, but I don't notice any difference switching from my 35" Cirrus 5 to my 34" Smith 5. For the money, the Cirrus is very hard to beat!

A Groove is a Terrible Thing to Waste!

LOVE the darkness of that bass. What's up with the fingerboard? It's awesome!

Made in USA.

That is a maple fret board with a factory black finish.

I have only seen one other like it.

Here it is stock like I got it from the pawn shop,

I cleaned it up and re-wired it and installed Orig Fender
62 pup. I also put black hardware on it

It is a great P bass. It has a supper thin neck that's
wonderful to play,

Congrats on your new aquisition.

I'm a newer bassist and wanted a nice American made Fender. I played a few and couldn't justify the price for my level of playing.

Then I discovered the made in the USA Peaveys. Wow! I have a charcoal grey Dyna and a black Fury. I honestly don't lust after anything else right now. I particularly LOVE the maple neck on my Fury.

I have huge hands! The last 3 35" basses I had (Lakland 5501, Modulus Genesis, MPG Level 5) all felt and sounded okay, but I'd get a slight cramp after dwelling in the lower register notes for too long.

The 34" scale just feels better for me, what can I say? I love the sound of the 35" scale and I used to play Modulus Quantums exclusively, but my older hands just like the shorter scale.

That is KILLER! If you ever want to sell it, I want dibs!

Other peaveys to consider, the second generation Forum(single VFL with 2 band eq) or Forum AX(2 VFLs with blend and 2 band) . These remind me of an early Stingray. The Dyna Unity has been mentioned, but the standard Dyna-Bass was active/passive with either Superferrites or Soapbar(single coils that look like Cirrus VFL's- pickup type dependant on year) and 3 band eqs. If your wish is for active Peaveys with a 34 inch scale, and you just as soon have a bolt-on neck, these can usually be had for a great deal less than Unities or Sarzos.

I would love to play a Forum AX five string. If it does the Stingray thing well, it must be an awesome bass.:bassist:

There's a Dyna and a Foundation on fleabay right now that are tempting, but I'd have to wait and see what the TL5 does for me before getting anything else.
The Dyna bass has the ferrites and looks like a bolt-on equivalent of the TL5 series 1. If it were on when I first went to bid on the TL5, I'd probably have bid on that one first :bawl:

But hey, I got a good deal, so I can't complain!;)

I am still in love with the T-40 I bought about six months ago. It has such a wide array of tones on tap; it is very chameleon-like. Of course, the weight is the only drawback(for some), but I`m primarily a sit-down player.
