Peavey Logo - I like it or I don't

As far as the Peavey logo goes:

  • It is perfect and does what it was designed to do very well

    Votes: 127 50.6%

  • I like it but feel another design could be equally effective

    Votes: 36 14.3%

  • I dislike it and feel a more effective logo could be designed

    Votes: 46 18.3%

  • I dislike it and in general I dislike Peavey for some reason

It's strange. On the one hand, they moan about offshoring, and, oh how terrible it is that their fav Co. now does that, or off-borders, c?

But here we've got a Co. that, by and large, has stuck to its Mississippi, USA guns and tried as hard as it could to remain American when it's especially financially rought 2b so.

And this here Co. is in a region of the USA that has a history that's rough, very rough.

No wonder so many salivate on the money-hungry, Mexico-exploiting Cali Cos while spitting on the Ole-Miss one.

For many, it's masked South-Hatred.

First off, it won't bother this ol' DI...oh, for you "let others defend us" civvies, that's Drill Instructor, and make sure to call me 'Sergeant' if you dare address me anyhow.... Second, off! Last I checked one's allowed to express his/her ops here as long as no racism/sexism/ageism/other-ism is expressed.

PEAVEY, MERIDIAN, USA. You wanted a USA rather than a divided Union/Confederacy, right? But it still rubs some Yanks the wrong way that there's an honest company in MS, USA that cranks out durable, excellent musical instruments etc.

Tough: Here's what you tell us, right back @ you--Get Over the 'Civil' (oh-so-civil) War!

Let it go, Yankee Doodle. We're one country. Support what's left of our economy, even if it's not in CA.

Love the company and its products. I preferred the "industrial" logo that was used for a short while. I took the pointy logos off of my speaker cabs for one main reason...They caught on my shirt more than once while toting the heavy cabs and put me in a position that my back didn't like...

I really like peavey gear ,,but i do think the logo is a bit dated / spickey / 80s heavey metal ,,,so i do think that it should be redesigned.

I'm trying to think of other companies that did this ,,the only thing i can think of was Toyota , they had a crap logo and then changed it to the circular logo.

I think its good for companies to change the logo if they have turned a corner so to speak ,,and i think peavey has turned a corner , recently their equipment IMO has reached a new standard ,so therefore i think it time for peavey to have a new logo.

back in the early/mid seventies, i worked in a music store that carried the Ampeg, Acoustic, Sunn, Hiwatt, Marshall, Fender, Kustom and Peavey lines. All of our salesman felt that Peavey was at the lower end of the gear that we carried and they were generally sold to those that couldn't afford the higher end stuff. Back then, they simply just didn't sound as good as the more expensive amps (pretty harsh sounding), but i will say that they were just as much, if not more reliable than any of the others. I'll never forget when one of the guys that worked there asked Hartley how he could sell them when comparing a Peavey to an Ampeg, Sunn, Fender or an Acoustic amp and Hartley replied, "Just sell them for what they are." :) I thought that it was a genius, almost zen, response, and we all smiled.

i've never owned a single piece of Peavey gear, but played thru and sold alot of them back then. Their logo always bugged me as it represented "cheap" or at least "budget" to me. now, 40 years later, i guess that you could say that their logo has grown on me, but i still think that there are alot better amps out there. but for the money? maybe not.

Wow, what a strange post that has nothing to do with anything!

So if I don't like the Peavey logo, it's because I'm against the south? And if I don't want to play their gear, it's because I'm against the south? It has nothing to do with the 20 years Peavey put out crappy products with that hideous logo? Wow, well I guess I better move out of Florida because I'm so against the south there's no way I could live here.

BTW, "Sarge," politicism is off-topic, too.

You should write a book; I'm not foolin.' You've got a knack w/story-telling. I'd know, given that I'm an author (w/plenty of critics, but that brings biz, eh?).

You're an honest person. You tell it as you remember it, heard it, and share your opinion. I respect that very much.

And I love how you give props to Hartley's genius. Because that's what he is, and, as you more-than-imply, his genius is in his vision. Simply put, and this is my take already, he's a Seer. He's way, way above the petty industry trends and such. If I could bottle his serenity, confidence and insight, take a swig (and keep a massive stash) and market it, well:
1. I'd have less nightmares about my boys being blown to bits. I think they'd prefer it that way, but the midbrain gets beat up from repetitive incidents of your best friends' flesh flying all around you and coating your face. So that Hartley-Brew would be a gift from God.
2. There would be a lot more serene, confident, insightful bassists out there. Let's face it: Many of us are anything but....Forget 'bout the guitarists.
3. I'd finally be able to get outta debt and take a long-vacation somewhere...serene.
