Peavey MegaBass Club

If any one is interested I have a Megabass Head and a couple of classic cabinets for sale. I purchased all the pieces new and have taken care of them and are mint.

Reply to this and I'll provide my email so we may discuss further.

Thanks

David Watts

You're going to hear from the mods in a minute... you aren't really supposed to be posting for sale references unless you have a 'supporting membership'... just a heads-up.

Hi men, a big hello from sunny Scotland,I have been a Megabass owner since 1986, bought from new and had it flight- cased so it's still in mint condition. Iv'e used Trace Elliot,Fender,Yamaha and H&H :crying: amps but the megabass has been by far the best and served me well over the years with no breakdowns or any problems. Nice to see there are still owners like myself and still going strong after all these years. Here's my set up.

No it's not re-covered it's the original cab and cover the only thing changed was the 15" speaker, I blew that and got it changed under warranty but I've had it from new. It's a 1516e they are rarer than hen's teeth

How the devil do you blow a BW?

I had my MB running through a 1516 (regular) never had a problem with the BW, and only lost one of the 8"s due to a corroded contact. Speaker was fine.

Oh, that's easy. Just disable DDT, play aggressively and crank it. :) I've blown five BWs, all during my younger and dumber years - two 18's and three 15's, a couple of times with only 200W. Peavey's DDT is there for a reason.

Yup I've done the same, sad moment and I knew it was me. That is the only reason I'm not using them anymore I love the sound not the weakness.

Heya Club MegaBass!

It's been a while since I updated numbers, so here is an updated list of TB members who either specifically requested a number or posted a picture of their Megas:

1 - Stev187
2 - Ayce
3 - jpknox
4 - MNAirHead
5 - cflbass
6 - uhdinator
7 - Five String
8 - LowEZ
9 - Wookieonbass
10 - marq1965
11 - TheREALRandyMos
12 - Count Bassie
13 - lossfizzle
14 - KPJ
15 - Fluid Power
16 - Slackbladder

I think it's cool that a growing number of us appreciate this really important amp. If you're new to this thread, don't miss the run-down from Peavey's Invalid Link Removed of what made the Mega special from a technical point of view. We're lucky that Bobby checks in here from time to time. There's also a link to the manual and my short demo video about the head buried in this thread.

I gave one of my Megas to a young player in the area. This 15 year old is a real monster and his favorite amp is now the Peavey MegaBass:
