Peavey MegaBass Club

The Mega is in a 3-space soft bag, tidy and tucked in. All seems to work, tho I'll probably add a pre of some kind. The graphic eq seems a little weak, and I'd like a little more change of character available. Anyway there it is, success. Peavey was great, the amp is fine.

I just picked up a MegaBass and Peavey Headliner 410 on Craigslist for $200 total. Pretty good deal if I say so myself! Here is the MB on top of my old Peavey 410TX.

I'd love a number! I haven't a chance to really give it a workout, but initial impressions are good. Nice tone, the EQ id effectve and the chorus is fantastic. Tomorrow I'll be able to give it a better workout and I'll also get a chance to try out the Headliner. I'm looking to use this for the ocassional time that I need more power than my Peavey MAX 112 ii can provide. I was looking for an older Peavey and finding a MegaBass plus another 410 is a bonus.

It's a bloody powerhouse... I used mine tonight at a gig, through a modded bag End cab- an S-18B with a Carvin PS-15 in it (baffle mod). I'll have to get the cab sorted out, but the sound was pretty dan good: Clear, nice mids voice, good punch and presence.

I used it into a Henry the 8x8 and it killed- had to turn way down.

KPJ - Congrats! I'm just a hobbyist, so you and many others around here will explore real-world applications more than I for the Mega. They sound great to everyone, however. Since you're a local guy, you may find it interesting that I got mine many years ago at one of the old Daddy's Junky Music warehouse sales in their facility in Candia, NH.

If it were me, I'd sell the Headliner. Wire up the 410TX as one 4 ohm pair of speakers + crossover, and one 4 ohm pair without. Send each output of the Mega to one pair of speakers in the TX and enjoy all the 400W the Mega can supply.

Hard to decide which to keep! Both cabs have their own sound. The tweeter is disconnected in the 410TX, so it really has a good low sound, as it is ported and the Headliner doesn't like a lot f bass at high volume.. Nice to have a big stack where I can control the volume and frequencies to each cab. I may never use this full stack, but it's good to know I have it if necessary!

Um, that's a lot of work for no real benefit. The TX is a ported cab with a single chamber so splitting the speakers doesn't make any sense.
