Peavey MiniMega 1000

I ordered mine back in March or April. Thought about canceling after the fourth or fifth time the date was pushed back, but at this point I guess I'll hold on a bit longer and see what it's like. Should be a remarkable amp for the price, though I'll admit that my enthusiasm for it has cooled somewhat since. Still I hope that it proves to be a good sounding, well built, and reliable amp and that it's a big success for Peavey.

I also hope that they don't market their next product the way they did this one. I'm not going to get in a huff or act personally insulted that Peavey didn't come out with the amp by a certain date, but jerking people around with release dates is a good way to... cool their interest.

I'm not sure how big of an impact this ultimately will have on the amp's sales either way.

I have never subscribed to the constraint of getting cab and head from the same brand. I still like the idea of the Minimega, and getting Peavey cabs is no necessity, IMHO. I'll not get a Minimega, though. I have bought heads twice during the wait, and the one I have now I believe will stay for a while.

Pushed back to 8/20 now.
Well, there's always a chance that they're just talking about you people and that mine is on its way. I will have Cuthbert, my butler, call to confirm that this is the case.
I'll buy 12 pairs of the same socks and throw away all my old socks, so I suppose I should play a peavey cab with the minimega.

(I really want a barefaced, though)
Are you planning on picking up a Minimega?

Try thinking of the head as a T-shirt and the cab as boxer shorts. You don't feel compelled to match those, do you? Thus, you are free to pair the head with whichever cab strikes your fancy, even that silly, tropical print one.

That'll be five cents, please.

If they make it to sale in Norway at a reasonable price, I want to pair one with a Barefaced Big Twin 2 for what should be a stupidly loud lightweight rig. Until then, I'll make do with my (matched) Ampeg SVT-450 + 410hlf.

Thank you, sir! Worth every penny!

just done a mini-search of retailers.. MF still claims 8/10, American musical October, Sweetwater quit posting dates and now states they are in line for earliest shipments.. Believe things when you see them..
Sweetwater quit posting dates, But they told me specifically two weeks ago that the last week of August/ first week of September was the ETA. i suppose that could have been wishful thinking, or a guess. But it seemed like an informed comment from a usually very reliable source. I hope so :hyper:

Cuthbert called on Tuesday. He didn't like the tone of the person he spoke with on the phone, whom he called -- rather uncharitably -- a "snot-nosed punk," and said, "I wasn't able to glean anything conclusive, sir, but I shan't be put off." Today he took the helicopter to check in person at MF headquarters. He says the order has been put off until the 25th, but was dubious about that date, given the pattern of delays and MF's pattern of reporting them at or after the last second. Who knows -- maybe they don't know until the truck hasn't shown up. Maybe the amps are at sea.

I might or might not hold on for the amp for reasons of my own, but that shouldn't affect anyone else's decision one way or the other. Still looks like a killer deal, whenever it arrives, and I still wish Peavey loads of success with it.
