The modification involves (I believe) disconnecting one wire from the inside. Once this is done the unit should still be under warrantee. Is this correct Bobby? It's a minor action.

Amp did great at rehearsal into 8ohm GK212MBE. Fan/whistle a non issue in rehearsal environment.
Engaged the kosmos briefly for kicks. Couldn't tell a huge audible difference but when I dialed up the inner knob the speakers moved a whole lot more. Like about an inch extra travel at same volume. Kind of scared me so turned it off. But didn't need it. Sounded good and strong like it wasn't breaking a sweat.

Yes, my mM spends time idling through practices, rehearsals and shows even at 8 ohms. This sucker has headroom for days. At 4 ohms it's like trying to hold a grenade between your legs with the pin pulled. No big/sudden movements.
Seems like a good time to sell it, nobody has them and Peavey told SamAsh it would be about a month before they got any in stock. I just cancelled my order
Dang, where are all these amps going? It seems like we've been getting in 100 a week, sometimes more, for a while now.
Mom and pop shops without internet presence? Seems like most folks here order online from one of the major dealers.

Surely it would be easy enough to rig one up from a low budget/light 2U rack shelf?
Yeah, but I didn't find out about that until after I bought the MM, and I'm thinking about just keeping the MM to use as a power amp in my rack setup.
I don't know where they're all going, but I just got one, brand new from, supposedly, an authorized dealer, on eBay. And definitely a better price than MF, SW, etc..
Yep, bought mine new from Ebay online dealer. They took my Best Offer, plus free ship and got here two days later. Very happy with this amp.
Band hosted a benefit blues jam at a big biker bar north of Houston this past Sunday afternoon. I had my mM1000, BF Big Twin-T and Valenti #75-with dead battery two songs in. No sweat, pulled the PTC knob and kept going. Huge building with large openings at front and back so semi-outdoor gig. One other bassist sat in using a MM SR copy I believe. Anyway it was a hot bass so midway I had to go dial down some of the knobs from my settings to get a better balance with the rest of band. I was outside and I could hear he was blowing way too much lowend and volume. But the rig was taking it no sweat. Just too much of a good thing for the mix.
No PA support other than vox and keys, drums so I was dialed up pretty good. Still had the bass knob @ 11:00 with the PUNCH button in. All other dials were just left or right of noon, gain @ 2:00, master @ 2:00. I did push in the CRUNCH button on one reggae style tune. And it just filled the room with huge gobs of lowend but not muddy at all. Made my #75 with ebony board sound like a upright or even church organ with all that nice, low end.
Later in the day this dude walks up and says, "hey, I'm a soundman for a lot of the bigger Houston festivals and you're sound is awesome out here. You have a great mix of lows and volume that we can feel and hear." I attribute that to the Peavey and the awesome BF cab. And just good luck for me as I just dial in my stage sound to what sounds good to my ear then move the master volume for I feel the room needs. And this room needed a lot. BTW, I think this amp really benefits from a 3 way cab, so many different tones I get with all those knobs that some here don't seem to be able to hear. I noticed the tonal limits when I used the Peavey with my 2 way, GB NX2-212T cab a couple gigs back. That's a great cab but I think my ears have been spoiled by what I am hearing thru 3 way cabs now.
So I thanked the guy and we talked abit, very cool guy. He wasn't aware of the BF cab but said he'd been reading about the new Peavey mM1000 amps and was very impressed by what he'd just heard. Very nice guy and I didn't know that was his pretty girlfriend that got up and sang some tunes with us earlier that day. It was a great day, they raised a lot of money for a fallen brother and that's always cool.
