Yep - bottomed the saddles, then came up about 1/2 turn. String set is .050 - .115 Height @ 12th fret is 3/32 - suits me. No buzz anywhere - sounds and plays great ! The strings that were on it when I bought it were probably a med / med - light set, and action was probably around 3/12ths @ 12th fret.

The strings that were on it when I bought it were probably a med / med - light set, and action was probably around 3/12ths @ 12th fret.
Ugh, I love my T-40 BUT I hate how near the border of the neck the G string is. The string slipped off the fretboard a couple of times at the last gig, especially when I noodled around the 12th fret. Oh well, I either have to polish my technique (my Fender precision is way more forgiving) or take it back to the luthier and see if anything can be done with it.
Don't get me wrong, it's a sweet thing to play and the tone is just awesome.

Pnut - I couldn't quite get the E string to 3/32 but it's a 105 so maybe that's why. The tilt is bottomed out now.

Josh- It looks like whoever had this bass hardly ever played it. The pick guard has seen some action but the neck is almost new. Checking the serial, it looks like it's a 1981 model.
Imaginos - my G string is 1/4 inch in from the edge... how bout your's?

slightly loosen (but leave just a bit of tension) the 4 neck screws and give the neck a good smack on the G string side at the head.....retighten.
I took the bass back to my luthier and he said the problem is a slightly rotated bridge. He said he'll re-adjust it, no biggie.
Either way it looks mint, and rare to see such an early T-40 with both original switches intact!

If ya read back a bit, I had to move the bridge on my new acquisition. The bridge was physically off center. the route for the bridge and the holes for the strings and ferrules were all just as they should be. Except, the whole thing was off center!

I have never seen one like it before. BTW, there is always a way to fix the issue, it just depends on how far you want to go....
It sounds like your problem will be a quick fix.

Are they the original switches? It almost looks like some parts were replaced.
My T-40 has switches with rounded ends and I think mine is all original. Mine is from a different year and has the other pickups, though.
Just got this Fretless T-40 off of ebay, got major T-40 GAS !!!

I had my luthier do that fretless work. Looks like it needs another application of Tung Oil to darken up the fingerboard.
I traded that bass away towards a Mill Plus. Was one of the hardest give ups in a LONG time. Hell of a player. I was going to have the fingerboard replaced with Ebony but he felt the natural Rosewood would give it a great upright tone. I put a LOT of $$$$$ into that baby.
