Thank you! I finally landed a white T-40 and am planning on replacing the pickguard/pickup rings and wanted to replace the black mounting screws along with it.

Well, it turned out even better than I hoped.
I will take the guard off later and drill the knob markers with a 3mm Brad-Point to make it look as true to form as possible

That does look really sharp.
To really nitpick and complete the look, I think the pickup ring screws would look great in chrome, though there is plenty of flat black hardware detail on a T40 also.

This issue may have been identified before, but I didn't look too hard. It concerns this sheet from Peavey for the T40 and T60.:
The wiring diagram on the full sheet doesn't match the schematic. Also, the schematic doesn't match circuit operation described in the T-40 Owner's Manual. If you wired/rewired your bass using just the wiring diagram, you're good. No problems there.
The schematic, however, is inaccurate. Anyway, here's the schematic issues, highlighted.:
-White wire from Bridge coil to Phase switch, terminal 1, is wrong. Should go to terminal 4.:
-Arrow and 'CW' for Tone control direction (Neck and Bridge) are indicating the wrong direction for single/dual coil. Works opposite as described in T-40 Owner's Manual. Arrow and 'CW' should be flipped on schematic.:
-Not a problem, just a clarifification. Too many Throws (as in 2 Pole 2 Throw switch) in Pickup Selector switch schematic drawing. Should remove 2 Throws.:
Schematic updated with changes. Clean with no highlights.:
I made sure the changes worked by highlighting signal paths (Gray is ground, Red is hot). Phase switch contacts up or down, Tone pot wiper to one end and the other, 4 permutations. It now matches circuit description in the Owner's Manual:
Here's the 4 corrected signal traces. For folk still learning this stuff, I usually start from ground and follow the connections from there.:
If you want a giggle, here's how the 4 permutations trace out in the original bad schematic. No particular order, 'cause it don't matter. As frakked up as a soup sandwich LOL.:
Poopy! I forgot to add in the updated schematic that the two Tone pots are 250kΩ S taper.

I’m in, guys! Picked her up this morning. Killer deal (I think). All original and everything works, though a little bit scratchy. She does need a good wipe down and set up.
I have read a bit about the torsion rod tool and some alternatives but all the links I have found are dead. Does anyone have one laying around they want to sell me or maybe you all know of a current alternative to adjust the truss rod.
Can wait to get he see

Agree - came in here to say this - this is what I used.
Got the 5/16” box wrench from All Parts and it works perfectly.
Finally had some time to clean her up and give her a proper setup. Her electronics were extremely scratchy and the body had gunk all over. The neck wasn’t too funky surprisingly. I didn’t remove all the rust or pitting in the chrome or buff out scratches… I don’t want to remove all the mojo. I only wiped it down with a damp microfiber cloth to get rid of the funk. She cleaned up pretty nicely. Sprayed the electronics with some deoxit and now all the scratchiness is gone. The setup went great and now she is good to go with Rotosound sb66 strings. 12.6 lbs is not light but doesn’t feel too terrible… we will see what a 4 hour gig does to me

Not sure if I'm seeing things or what but the body on yours seems to have more rounded outside edges than mine does?
Maybe @kodiakblair or @Giffro or @Eilif can chime in?
