Here's my T-40. I love every bit of it so far. It's a little heavy but I think it's well balanced :hyper:

Has anyone tried flatwounds on T-40?

Here's the T-40 that I got from Jim on here. This thing just rocks....tone and vibe for days. I need to get longer flats...I don't mind roundwounds for now. I also special ordered a strap from Souldier...3" wide and handmade. $30. Gotta love it. Found 3 knobs on Ebay for $18...slipped the one on and have two in reserve.

Here's my 1979 Natural/Maple T-40. Can I join please?

I've got it strung with DR SS Low Riders currently (since 2006). I'm not happy with the tone. I'm more a fan of mid heavy round wound tones, this is a bit bottom heavy and just isn't musical to me. I'm always open to suggestions, but have a set of Dean Markley SR 2000's to try... when I get the ambition built up to change them.

I have Lorider Nickels on my 79' and quite happy with them.

As for colors, alot of folks like black, but it's not very rare. Rosewood is not super rare, but defiately far less common than maple.

I don't think anyone has this information, but I would be interested to know what colors rosewood was installed on, and in what quantities. Off the top of my head, I know I've seen rosewood on traditional sunburst, natural, and white, but it very well may have been on other finishes as well.

I'd sell a kidney for a rosewood board siena sunburst!

Hi guys! Haven't posted on the boards in a bit though hang out here on PMs half the time. LOL I know this post was last month but I want to let you know Eilif that Ive seen Black and Rosewood before (twice actually (2 different ones) on eBay) and of course I couldn't get the scratch up for the first one. :crying: And the second one was too rough to make me try.

Id almost be willing to let a kidney go just for a Black and Rosewood T40.....

Ok, i have to share this real fast... Yesterday at band practice we were playing a song that the lead singer need to take down a step, meaning a bass line that normaly would have bottomed out on a Low E now had lots of D's in it. I detuned and played the song that way, but last night I got my 5 string out of its case for the first time since I picked up the t-40 to give it a try, maybe just take two basses to the next gig.

this is a nice 5 string with good EMG 40dc pickups.. I played it for 6 years and always thought the sound was great. Now... when I play it, it sounds lifeless and boring, or as I said to my wife "since when does my yamaha have no BALLS???"

I put it away after a couple of minutes and went back to the t-40, one happy camper that I lucked into such an amazing bass for practically nothing.

Cherish your t-40's boys and girls! they are truly special...
