Peavey T40

Hi Justin

Did you have the chance to listen to the differences between the two pickup models used on the Peavey T40? Blades and Toasters. I saw your black one in Instagram and she has toasters, so probably is an earlier model. I think they changed the wood at some point, as well. Anything else to watch out for someone looking for a T40?

I'm in love with the sound you got from the T40 on "Told You So"! Any other clear example of the T40 on your recent discography?

Thanks!!

Hi,
I'm not familiar with the different models, no. And unfortunately I'm not very savvy with the instruments...I bought this one at least 25 years ago and didn't really know much about them then, or since. No real advice, other than make sure the neck isn't twisty and don't worry about the weight. As far as other T40 moments that I can quote, I'm not sure! I think there must have been a song or two on M83 'Fantasy' as well as several songs on the White Sea album 'In Cold Blood' back in 2014. I just don't have that good a memory otherwise on where I might have used it, but it gets used a few times a year on sessions of various kinds.

Thanks sir!
I think I'm going to grab one as soon as I can. I've listened to the isolated bass track on Told You So and loved the character right away! It's on the opposite side of another T40 tone that I really like too, which is Big Black Pig Pile, so I guess this is a good proof of how good this bass can sound on very different scenarios. Given the super wide range of tones present on your work as bass player and producer, the fact this is one of your regular weapons of choice talks for itself.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge here with us, as always!
