Peavey US basses...PLEASE COME BACK.

How do you like yours? I found one with an ebony board...coming to me tomorrow!

I like the sound very much but I don't find the neck that comfortable for me. It's kind of chunky, like a big D shape. For me, the Lakland-type profile is ideal. I don't have a 4-string to compare it to but (years ago) when I tried a 4 I thought the neck was just fine. Maybe it's a 5-string thing? I'll be interested to see if you find that yours is like that... or if it is maybe it will suit you better.

Maybe they could do extreme customs.. I dunno.. Something like this!

I had one of the peavey fury p bass copies in the mid 90s. It was my main bass for a couple years and also the last fretted 4 string i bought. I'd say it was better than my mim p bass. It wasn't as heavy as the mim p, had more of a jazz type neck which was easier for me to play and sounded as good if not better.

Don't really know what happened with peavey over the years. I never was into the cirrus stuff, but I've been a fan of their amps and cabs forever, now it's insanely difficult to find higher end peavey stuff. Unless they already discontinued them peavey was making some good all tube bass amps and cabs. But everywhere i go all i see is their cheapo stuff.

Yes,I would love it if they would bring production back to Meridian. The article from the local paper describing the layoffs, and Hartley Peavey's comments about the corporate environment here makes me doubt that will happen. Many factors to consider but the fact that there is passionate feelings from the community about these instruments is a good first step.I am a sole proprietor and the #1 reason for me getting business is a need or interest in my service, after that it's up to me to keep that client/customer happy. There is no questioning Peavey's CS,second to none.If they could make production happen again here I think it would take off.Might not be like the space shuttle taking off but maybe a Piper Cub.If anybody could do it Mr.Peavey would be the man,he's a warrior, and the products he has put out for the last 50 years are testament to that fact.

here's a close up for you, no need to squint. there's more info in this thread

Thanks! (Not that I need to start any more projects until I've finished some, pipeline is full, but the T-40 5 string conversion is now tops on the "next" list. Might not go quite as far with the rest as you did though, very impressive job!)

Edit: will coincidental timing wonders never cease! I was thinking I didn't want to mod my Peavey bridge plate, so I hope over to ebay to set up a "Peavey T-40 bridge" search, expecting to find one some day if I'm lucky, and lo and behold: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1980s-Peavey-USA-T40-T-40-T-40-Bass-Bridge-Plate-/191496912419

Actually, Doc, it's a rare standard with the birdseye fretboard upgrade. Has the standard tuners. matching headstock too, though! A Beauty. If I hadn't bought a carbon graphite Kawai last week I'd be all over this baby. But, that would be the fourth Millie I bought in the past year. Probably not good for the marriage.

I'll take the top one in twin 5ers with the fretless on top, please! Yeah, if they offered that, and I had the cash at the moment, I'd order one as soon as I knew they were available. Nice photoshopping!
