Peavey US Made Millennium Basses

One friend of mine was a regional manager for MARS music and he refused to distribute Peavey, and I quote "I'm not gonna let my stores carry those pieces of crap." He must never had gotten his hands on a Cirrus.
No wonder MARS went out of business. Peavey is a pretty lucrative brand to carry (everything - PA, guitar, bass, etc.) and in general Peavy distributionships are very valuable.

I finally got a chance to take a photo of my Millennium 5+ beauty. It's strung with Sadowsky flats and I'm LOVING it! :hyper:

She's definitely a beauty! I'd be interesting to play yours and mine side by side - one with maple fretboard and the other pau ferro; both with Sadowsky flats.

That would be an interesting test. It's not often that we get to compare things side by side like that. I sometimes wonder if improvement in tone (to our ears) is as great as we perceive it to be. I too would love to hear the difference between our two basses when the fretboard wood is the only variable.

Somehow I think the sound difference would be very subtle and would get totally lost in the mix. Do you have a Bass PodXT?

Actually when I had both my Millennium 5s, it was in the mix where I noticed the difference the most. The one with the Pau ferro board just didn't seem to cut through the band mix like the maple boarded one.
That being said, I once read a post here where someone said they had owned several Millenniums and thought the pre amps sounded like they were voiced differently on each one. If there is inconsistancy with the preamps, maybe that's what I was hearing. Or a combination of the preamp and the different wood.
I wish I could find that old thread with that post but I've looked several times and haven't been able to find it.
