+1 I got mine on clearance from GC. It was a floor model and I got it for $499 with the full 5 year warranty. I thought I would use it for a while ,save some more cash, flip it for a profit and get a SVT.
Almost a year later I have no plans on selling it.

I also just got this same deal and i must have got the last one in a store. It came from Michigan and there are no more on clearance on the site anymore.:D Loving this amp though. Granted it is my first all tube bass amp, but it is just absolutely ridiculous. I took it to band practice for the first time on Friday and even my 2 guitards said it sounded amazing and it sat in our mix a lot better then the GK i was using or the Kustom before that. It was the missing piece to our sound. I am very happy and even though my wife was not too pleased it was well worth the cold shoulder for one night, she never stays mad long.:bassist:

I have new equipment shipped to my bandmates house where we practice. This way the wife never knows.

Hey guys... Just another update. Lately I've been dealing with a serious case of gear neurosis. I just revisited this thread and squashed it. In fact, before my show tonight I'm putting the PEAVEY badges back on. This will surely mark the end of my career....:hmm::hiding:

I often thought about getting the VB-2, however I have been using my trusty Peavey Tour 450 for almost five years now and the thing always delivers so I figured why really change. I just picked up a older Peavey 810TX cab and together the rig kills! I love my Peavey rig.

Those are really tough to find. I have found some 410 TVX cabs, but haven't jumped on them as I have a pair of 410 cabs now. I have rented a Traynor TC 412 and so far it is great! ?

Yeah, they are. I found mine on guitar centers used site. It was cosmetically beat to crap, but mechanically sound. I re finished the cab with Duratex, re painted the grill, and put on new casters. Looks like a brand new cab now. It's heavy as hell, but I still dig it.

Bit of a random question but I've been looking at the Peavey VB-2 for quite a while now. I really, really, really want a Classic 400 but those are impossible to find, and this looks like it's definitely a worthy replacement. Has anyone had success using this head with GK cabinets, rather the GK Neo cabinets? I may switch to an all-Peavey rig and get those awesome VB cabinets but I really, really like my GK 212Neo's.

Not an important or entirely relevent question, but still curious if anyone's tried that configuration yet.

Nice! We don't have GC in Canada. I wish we did as I have done searches on their website for used gear. The selection is almost endless! Maybe a trip across the border with a pick up to grab a load of music gear! Ha! Thanks guys for the info! Even our Peavey dealers don't carry a huge stock of stuff. I was just thinking that a Peavey cab would match better with a Peavey head and wanted a few ideas. I'll maybe load the head into my car and hit the city and just try all I can. I really do like the Traynor 412, but wanna be sure before I drop the cash. Thanks again very much!

While I have not used my VB2 with GK cabinets, I have used it with a number of different cabinets and I have yet to play through one that sounds truly bad. Sure some sound better than other but all are usable.

The resonance and presence controls work wonders in this regard. I have started to think of them less as tone controls and more as cabinet calibration knobs.

I use the Presence knob religiously on my GK head, but what does the '"resonance" control do? The opposite effect? Thanks for the answer.
