Peeing In The Sink To Save Water?

I'm operating on the notion that the shower head is running, thus copious amounts of water flushing it own. I'm willing to bet the crap we scrub off our feet and other areas is far more filthy and bacteria laden than urine. It's also been proven that when flushing the toilet, the bacteria from the commode scatters in the air landing on the sink, counter tops, anything out. So not peeing in the shower isn't making it any cleaner.

She is aware of that and actually closes the toilet seat lid each time before flushing. Also...sometimes best not to argue with a women over petty stuff. Save it for the big things that really makes a difference in your life.

Very true...but they are a lot more energy efficient than even 15 years ago. One thing for sure. Drinking water is going to become more precious in years to come thru out the world and the expense of water will be much higher.

You are missing the cost of purifying the water; the filters for those purification units are very expensive and don't have a very long life span.
With current technology the cost of desalination is prohibitive.

Some desalination plants have gotten the green light....but as stated they are mega-costly to build, run and maintain with a lot of power consumption. A lot of environ reports and similar being conducted now and for some time. We'll see. Qatar, Dubai....they have the cash and a greater necessity so they did it.

I set up some rain barrels (wishful thinking) and got reimbursed for the cost. One rain storm fills the 65gallon one in minutes. A neighbor and I are thinking of building a 300gallon one to use for gardens/plants. That what I use mine for. Of course, god knows if/when it will rain again. San Diego is as brown as I've seen it. Hoping no Santa Ana winds come this way.

After the drought finally breaks (if it ever does) plant your property with indigenous plants and get rid of the grass, that's one of the best water saving actions you can take.

Well at least the state is helping folks take logical steps.

In fact, i ripped out the entire back-yard lawn and installed pavers. the only thing I have to water in the back yard is a small pear tree sapling.
I cant do anything with the front yard due to HOA restrictions, but if i could, Id rip out the front lawn too.

Just being aware and taking a few practical measures can make a big difference. my guess is that lawn/garden waterers are much bigger offenders than normal users. Just like making a separate trip in a vehicle for every little thing rather than planning and making one trip. When we have a bottomless cup at our disposal, it's very easy to waste.

I'll go one further. Everyone should take a multi-day, Summertime backpacking trip in the desert. That'll really teach someone how precious water really is.

Because of drought conditions in North Texas, we have been encouraged to reduce water usage and the almost all cities have imposed watering restrictions. But in the government's twisted MPD mind it becomes a problem. I can't recall which city, but one of them sent out bills to people who had been good citizens and seriously reduced their usage that said you didn't use the minimum amount of water, but we billed you for the minimum amount.
So is that how the fund the ads on TV begging for water use reductions, over bill people who complied with the request?

I'm glad we're on a well here, we also use rain barrels for gardening. You could always look into one of those killer vapor condensers that Luke had on Tatooine, that would be awesome. The maintenance droids might get expensive though.

At 17:27 of the video, he flashes up a page from the NOAA website and says this: "This is interesting.
