ok, all procrastinating aside, here is my latest board.

It's the new PT2 with mounting underneath for voodoo labs pedal power 2.

x2 wireless->visual volume->multi comp->cream pie->loop master->korg tuner->amp

loop A -bsw / angler / neo fuzz
loop B - Clone chorus / bf2 flanger

Bongo... I've been away for a while lately, so Im sure i've missed an interesting thread about pulling apart the blueberry (which im about to search for!), but man am I keen to see what you learn from the mission!

I bought a berry from davidmwilson and have been sooooo tempted ever since. It just sounds so good, I must know how it ticks! I have always been scared off however by the black goo inside and the design 'tricks' people rumour about.

If it was any other pedal, id be in there, but I just can't do it to my prized 3BOD!

FWIW I do not recommend removing the black goo, as many fragile wires and junctions are thickly embedded in it. The only reason I dug into mine was because it started having some functional issues anyway. I've got it mostly cleared off now and ready to trace, but there are a few parts where either Bjorn scraped off the identifying marks, or I did while excavating. Also the circuitboard itself is just a hodgepodge of blobs of solder and hand-drawn traces, not exactly easy to follow. I took a break from working on it recently, but I intend to dig back in soonish.

Good Stuff! Yep, those where my exact concerns with the goo. Im worried id dig into / break something and not know what / where it was or came from.

I have heard that markings are removed from components by Bjorn and apparently he has a few extra bits and pieces in there that do nothing more than make it hard to work out whats really going on.

Anyhoo, good luck with it!

Reverse-engineering pedals? Ethical dilemmas? Stealing designs? Half-arsed work? What are you, a Behringer employee?

Next, you're probably going to tell me you have a plastic chassis already prepared for your clone version.

I might just have to call you "Behringermania" from now on, Cyrus. :p

They're always out there and you can always pick them up for between $60 and $100 dollars. They've not really risen in price since they were discontinued and I don't see it happenning. I've just got that many becasue I think they're a really great pedal.

I'm not into FX for collecting them, like I know some go all Pokemon over Way Huge / BJFe etc. That's not my style, I've got some really nice and rare gear (toneczar etc.) but it all goes on the gigging board and gets stomped on like the cheap stuff too. Otherwise, what's the point?

Im pretty sure Bjorn still makes them.

He is really protective of his designs. Fair enough too I guess. He put the effort into (apparently) coming up with new circuits and has decided he doesn't want to share his work while it still pays his bills, so good luck to him.

He gets pretty angry if you ask him whats in the pedals too :D
