My fav TON album is definatley October Rust. (With WCD in a close 2nd) I like albums that feel "complete" when you listen to them and that album feels complete the whole way through. (Haunted has to be the best song to ever close an album)

Unforntatley, I can never really heard what the hell Pete's playing (except in "Everything Dies" which has a great little bass groove) due to all the sludgly distorted guitars.

Hey Chaos,

I just got off the phone with Mr. Kelly. I asked him about your ques. and he told me they are still putting down demo-tracks & it won't be finished for a while, they aren't doing any shows or tours until it's done though. If you like stuff in the ToN vein you might want to check out my band at Evoken.com. We also have an Mp3 site that you can link to from our official site & give a listen to some dark heaviness. Gotta go now, going to the Morbid Angel / Motorhead show in NYC...

thanks for the info. I thought I heard ToN was part of the Ozzfest tour this summer. Is that still gonna happen with the production of the new album? Not like I'm gonna go to Ozzfest this year, again. Or do you think they will have it done by the time Ozzfest kicks off?


I just downloaded In Pestilence, Burning and I'm listening to it right now. I gotta say you guys rock! Very good stuff! I'll download the others when I get the chance, but the sun is up and I gotta sleep. :D

Send me some info on your albums, and I'll see if I can pick one up.

My fave TON album is "Origin Of The Feces" (the original one with Pete's anus on the cover, not the remixed one with the cartoon skeletons, but I do own the latter also because of the bonus tracks).

When I saw TON in concert Pete played an Esh bass all night. I was impressed that he used a chain as a strap, but a used Esh I auditioned was one of the lightest basses I've ever played!

I read on another forum that Pete uses BEAD tuning; makes sense to me.

just wanna give a thumbs up for Pete Steele. i'm not a type o fan, but i had the pleasure of hanging with him a couple of weeks ago at his house. my guitarist went to school with him and he invited us over to give us a hand with a few things musically - and treat us to chinese food (which I ironically wound up paying for!!!!).

he's a really cool and really funny guy - i was playing his standup bass and he told me i could borrow it any time, just give him a call. I have to do it just to do it. why does this kind of stuff always happen to people who aren't big fans??? not taking away anything from type o, i'm just not a fan of that kind of music - like if it were Flea, i'd probably be so starstruck I'd melt. i'd take his bass if he offered to me in a heartbeat, and not give it back till he begged me!

ohh yeah... the esh thing. he has a couple of em hanging on his walls and he told us an interesting story. the Esh salesman was hanging with him one night playing with his cats, and one of the cats messed him up a little cuz the guy got a little rough. after the salesperson left he noticed his cats tail was snapped in half, broken. i believe that was the end of esh for Pete and almost the end of the salesperson.

Woah, interesting story! And WOAH! OLD thread eh? I started this thing just about a year ago....who dug it up? :P. I've pretty much left this path, but after reading this, I think I'll jump back on it. I dunno if it's going to work with this setup...tell me what you guys think:

I just checked out your bands site & saw that your friends with Mr. Thall too! He's a great guy & great friend whose talent is beyond. He does the engineering for my band & we will be in his new studio to do our next CD as soon as our label sends the $$$.

agreed on Ron. i had the thrill of playing with bumblefoot for the last month or so of it's existence, right during the time of 9/11 which pretty much ended the band for a bunch of reasons. i was somewhat bummed as i LOVE ron's music and felt it was gonna be an awsome feather in my cap. he recorded our 2nd CD which we are extrememly happy with. haven't seen his new studio yet, didn't even know it was open.

i found out last nite that Pete was in europe. we wanted to get him to come down to our show on saturday because his presence there and support for us would be great. yes, we wanted to use him. he goes and gives support to crappy cover bands in crappy bars and to get him to come see us in a happening place is like pulling teeth. or maybe the timing is just off, like this time, whenever we ask him.

hey, do you know the guys from Brushfire/The Mudbugs? i just started playing with them to pick up some cash doing covers.

yeah, frank was the bass player. i met him the night we went to pete's house strangely enough (he's one of the guys i bought chinese food for but he doesn't know it). the day after, the mudbugs guitarist asked me if i wanted to play with them cuz they were having problems. i think frank kept showing up a half and hour late to rehearsals or something. i told them i wasn't going to do it unless they were sure they didn't want to work with frank anymore. i didn't want them throwing someone out because they had me. a couple of weeks later they they said it's either me or some other guy they were going to use - so i said okay as I NEED THE MONEY.

i offer this info cuz i hate taking someone's place. i thought frank was a nice guy. i think to be honest he's gonna be a lot happier out of that band. they're not the easiest guys in the world to get along with, and if the guitarist doesn't like you, he can make life in the band a living hell.

hey, if you're not doing anything tonight and want to check out an interesting scene - the nerve! is playing the temple at 10PM on Bay Pkwy and Benson Ave. in Bklyn. It's about 2 blocks straight from the Bay Pkwy exit on the belt. It's an actual temple - not a club. if ya do say hi.

back from the dead after 6 years...

I love Type O Negative, probably my favourite band and Pete is a seriously underrated player. These days he's playing a Washburn M3 bass
