PF-50T - should I pull the trigger?

Got the amp the other day, tried it with various cabs and it's a really loud 50W. Took it to a dinner/dancing gig last night at a golf club and WOW! Plenty of volume with just my SVT-210AV cab. With my P Bass I had the gain about 4 and the master didn't get above 3.5. EQ was flat except for a bit of bass boost to make up for the tiny cab. My drummer loves the tone.

My band is bass/drums/guitar/keys/vocals/sax/trumpet playing jazz, motown, R&B, rock & funk - it's not "Deep Purple" loud, but my ears we're ringing when I got home.
On paper 50 watts doesn't seem like it should be enough, but don't discount it until you've actually played through it. It's definitely going to work for what I do and the tubey goodness is awesome!

Agreed - I often gig my Fender Bassman 100t on it's 25w setting (!) and it's plenty loud enough playing RnR, R&B, Country etc.
I've found massive wattage is only necessary for rock styles where everyone's chasing everyone else's ever increasing volume knob.... or a drummer who wants to win the hardest hitting man alive award.

Yeah I wouldn't have been able to justify it if I hadn't sold the NXT.
At practice last week, I ran the PF-50T though my old Peavey 115 cab that has a D140F. It sounded great with my JP bass, but too boomy for the upright - and the cab was too close to me.
Now I need to find another 210AV cab. I can't wait to explain that to my wife:wacky:

I think you owe us pics of your rig. I still haven't seen one of the PF-50T on top of the 210AV.

The PF-50T is just a little wide for the 210av, but the feet will fit (just barely) and I've made it work. But I'm getting a PF112hlf for it just because the look of it hanging over doesn't appeal to me.

Gotta love those 210AVs! Funny, I haven't tried my 210AVs out with my 20T as of yet - can't pull myself away from running the 20T into my 112AV!

Another believer! Excellent!

I cant say that mine has any hum in standby or even in 'go time'. Its only a bit noisy when i have the p-bass with lollars hooked up. Thats classic p-bass noise though as thats how its wired. Cant hear it once its being played.

Try in a different room or with the lights off? Lights play nasty tricks!

Agreed entirely with jbd. Could be the house/room. Any flourescent lights or dimmers in your house?
