Phantombacker (AKA Ghost Bass Killa!)

I think I'll either go with Ronaldbrandter or AlaBasster...maybe...

Also, I need some help from someone in close proximity to a Rickenbacker for this next question: What is the outer diameter of the standard RIC knobs?

I found a close approximation in white, and they have them in 3/4" and 1" diameters, so I'm not sure which ones to get. They look like this:

AlaBasster for sure, that's an awesome name for it.

Would you mind telling me where you found those knobs. Those would be perfect for my "The Bastard" (Tele-Jazz) design

As promised, here are some pics of the body, which arrived today. The second photo shows the tear-out area on the upper horn that made it so cheap. Since I'm going to be painting it a solid color, it'll do just fine:

I hate to tell you but I am loving your ex, (4001v63) Ron.

Ronaldbrandter gets my vote!

BTW, this made me think of Rick's Rick:

Sub'd!

Really cool project, this is gonna look classy when it is done I look forward to the result.

Also, I checked out that site you got the knobs from, they've got some really neat stuff. I'm taking a look at some of them for my build, so thanks for the link!

No problem! I think I was led there by some old build thread here in Luthier's Corner, so I'm glad to pass on the find.

The knobs are here, and now the treble pickup mounting ring and cover has been ordered from pickofthericks.com. I also ordered a pre-1974 white pickguard from allparts.com. That about does it, as I already have pickguard screws and strap buttons on hand. Brad from Classic Amplification says that my treble pickup should be done very soon, and then it's just the long wait for the neck to arrive and I'll be in full swing!

If you don't mind, could you PM me a link to where you sourced the body (don't need the Ric police C&Ding the seller)?

I'd love to do a project like this...always wanted a "stripped" v63 like McCartney's, but I'm not about to tear up a real Ric!

BTW: Looking Good!

Thanks for any info...

PM sent, Flyingfrets.

Another mini-poll for you guys and gals: For the paint, I'm trying to decide whether I want to go with a true white like arctic white, or if I want a little age to the white, like maybe reranch's gorilla vanilla. For my last build I did Olympic white with tinted lacquer over it, and it turned out WAY too yellow, so I definitely won't go that route. But a tiny bit of a cream color might look nice against the white-white plastic bits. Then again, a pure white-on-white would be cool, too. I'm stuck! What say y'all?
